Breakfast at the Amra Palace hotel was lavish and delicious, and put us into a great mood for exploring Petra. The entrance to the site was only a few minutes away from the hotel so just as quickly as we had been seated on the bus we had to get back off again.
The walk to the Siq provided us with our first glimpse of what Petra had to offer. A world of stone and rock - definitely a wonder of the world. The Siq passageway itself was so enchanting and full of mystery.
Once we had finished the length of the Siq we dropped our mouths at what was propped in front of us, in solid stone... The Treasury! It was massive and so intricate and delicate. Only one thing in Petra compared to the treasury, which was 800 steps away (this was more challenging to climb than we had first perceived). The monastery is a large masterpiece carved into the side of a giant rock face, it was truly breathtaking. Nothing will compare to the monastery, it will always remain in our memories.
