HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! We are still waiting here but you have all seen it in now!!! Oh what it is to be over the other side of the world eh! We hope that you had many a joyous festivity and had a drink for us!
Well we have certainly walked our little butts off .. Yesterday was our first full day in San Fran and did we make the most of it or what! We made our way down to the water front as the weather was lovely. Standing on the edge of the trams as they fly up and down the hill was a laugh though trying to take pics at the same may not have been the best idea of the day, still made it to the other end with both arms and legs though.
Got a ferry out round the Bridge and round "The Rock". Took some great photos but you will have to wait for those as cant get them onto the site yet. What can we say about the Bridge? Its big, red and er? No really it was great to see. Something I (John) never thought I would get to see and the sun was out to make it quite a sight.
Also checked out the infamous piers that run along the coast and spent a few magic moments with a group of wild sealions which was beautiful.. About 300 have made this their home. We are going back tomorrow as we have our eye on some very large cocktails served on the promenade.
The area we are in is not great to say the least but it is only about a ten min walk into Union Square which is where most things happen. We have a free bus run to this point from the hotel but on this day was not running. So we set out to look for a bus. After walking abit, I said to Sara "Lets just walk all the way." Sara was not too happy with this idea (not a great walker) but went along with it. After the white people became less and less the ides of a bus looked better by the second. Still we went on though walking just a little quicker. Now we know why they run the free bus in and we found the bus to bring us back. Only 5 blacks asked us for money which I though was not bad all in all. I will take notice when Sara wants a bus now!
We have not had one good nights sleep yet as the place is full of Kids on holiday and who have come to see a group called Stringy Cheese or something. Wide awake by around 3 or 4 most days.
Next we are off to Las Vagas via a 14 hour bus ride so hope to get some good sleep.
