Hey there!
Sorry for the delayed, update but we have been staying in one horse towns with no internet (except in places which charge a fortune)! In Bariloche now, which is a pretty mountainous town in the lake district, Patagonia. As you can see in our pics, we have been to several places, although you will find it impossible to understand, because the website has jumbeled everything up so we tried to label everything.
After Iguazu falls, we made our way to Puerto Madryn, and from there did a couple of day tours to Peninsular Valdes (wildlife haven). Saw orcas (although you cant see on pics) attacking seal lions at Punta Norte, and saw elephant seals and penguins also during the day. I made frinds with an armadillo and saw a fox chilling out under a bush. Saw Choicas (emu things) and llama things.
After our wildlife adventure, headed for El Calafate to see the glaciers on a bus ride from hell! It was cold and long but worth it when we saw the Moreno Glacier (see pics). Its the biggest moving glacier in the world (except maybe antartica) and even the pics dont do it justice. Stayed in a lovely hostel with the dog capital of the world with an amazing view of the glaciers. Went for many walks only to be followed by large packs of stray dogs (much to Johns delight)- although they did scare all the birds on the bird watching walk!
Decided to go to El Chalten (a little north) since El Calafate was expensive to do trips. El Chalten is a tiny mountain village ancd was great to visit as all the walks are on your doorstep so no buses involved. Did 3 walks. The first to a nice waterfall, where we could relax in the sun, which even down south was hotter than at home- sorry folks!
On 2nd day we decided to be hardcore and do a 10 hour hike!!
Went to the Fitz Roy mountain with several views of glaciers and mountain ranges. The scenery was amazing, and the autumn colours looked incredible in the bright sunlight. I decided to do a hardcore climb to the top that nearly killed me, but at the top there was a beautiful lagoon and a fantastic view of Fitz Roy. John slept on a rock at 350metres.
The next day my knees were twice the size and John has a really bad cold so decided to do a shorter walk to see the condors (birds) and eat expensive burgers all day.
The bus to Bariloche was hell! (4 consecutive buses for 2 days!). But we are here now in the lake district with amazing mountainous territory and a nice hostel.
Planning to go to Bolivia now, so should be heading north in a few days and will be there within the week.
Ciao Chicos!
