A windy ferry ride thru the impressive Totaranui Sound brought me finally to Wellington. I stayed in the hills with a guy who works in the minstry of education and one of his other Cs a Movie director from Malaysia. Funny mixture I guess-). I did not have much time left on the north island so had to perform a sight-seeing rush. I spent time at Te papa,a very nice museum about all kind of things such as Maori culture, earthquakes and everything about NZ history. We went up the local hill with a historical cable car and cooked international meals together. After 4days I hit the road again and went further north. I was picked up by two young Maori guys who knew perfectly well how to welcome travelers, instead of saying hello they just handed a beer over to me. I did not make it as far as I wanted so I had to stop in a tiny motel in the middle of nowhere. In fact I was extremely hungry and had to improvise on my Dinner. I poored my pack of noodles into a water boiler ,cause there was neither cutlery nor any dishes, and ate with my hand out of the sink. I am fairy sure that I got all the vaccinations I needed that night.
After walking in the rain on the highway I was so lucky to be picked up by a French guy and his half broken vehicle. We got on really well and he showed my a hot water creek which was unbelievable. We drove all the way to Rotorua where we split again as he had to meet some friends somewhere else. That night I thought I have to stay in one of the dodgy hostels again when suddenly I received an invitation from a host in Tauranga which was an hour away though. Victor and his friend Phil were so nice they drove all the way and picked me up. Moving on now, I ended up spending the rest of my time at Tauranga and saw amazing things like the Lord of the rings movie set Hobbiton . In addition we ate various meals and Victor even drove me all the way to Auckland airport where my time in NZ finally came to an end.
All in all I can look back now on an amazing time in a land of stunning landscape. With blue rivers surrounded by mountains that peaks are shimmering thru the dense fog. Caves with running creeks and stormy nights in a traditional tipi. But also wandering around lost and the nights in airports as well as cold mountain huts. Finally Thanks very much to all the people who opened their houses to me and generously treated my like a friend.

Gisela A standard plicoy does not only cover emergency surgery and other medical expenses it also offers reimbursement for emergency rescue services which is absolutely necessary if you are so badly injured that you cannot make your way to the nearest medical facility. If you decide to buy a low-quality travel insurance plicoy and you become injured in an accident you may have to pay a large part of your medical bills with your own money..One thing you have to know is that most standard travel plans do not cover high-risk activities.
