Pacific Highway Number One. Sydney to Byron Bay. 780 km>>>10h
That's an easy calculation but gets a slightly different taste when you don't have a car nor a train or bus ticket!?
Hitchhiking First cut.
After my gay friends Mike and Ian from Sydney dropped me a Wyong Highway station, i had to ask someone to give me a lift.
In fact, I tried several times but at first no one seemed to be co-operative. Suddenly there was that 64t Truck and the driver said he could take me to PortMcquarie. I jumped on and the lucky-time began: Via UHF a system that allows trucks to communicate with each other, he found another guy to take me all the way to Byron! Moreover, I had nice chats and found out a lot about traffic and insurance laws and also about australian history.
By the time I got to Byron Bay junction it's already been dark and I had to walk about 7k to get into the town. Once I got there, I faced the first setback. Firstly, no vacancies and secondly most of the Hostels and motels were already closed. Nevertheless I did not give up and walked around and hoped for another lucky co-incidence. And there it was!I didn't wait very long until a japanese girl asked whether she could help me. Obviously, she musst have seen that I looked quite devastated and I'm still so thankful for her help. She took me to a french hippie camp beside the beach and after a second she'd arranged me place in a tent. It was all sandy and dirty but I did not care and slepped till the burning sun woke me up.... to be continued
When I woke up the next day I had only 3 simple wishes!
Firstly, having a warm shower
Secondly, finding a cool place to rest and put down my bagpack
Finally, Water!
A quick Goodbye and Thanks to the Japanese and French and off i went!
At first I got lost and it turned out that hitchhiking inside Byron was impossible so I had to catch a bus in order to get to my new host in Lismore.
Long story short, I walked around for ages but I finally met up with Don(host) in Lismore;but unfortunately my shower was cold cause a big storm caused a electricity breakdown that day. Don and I needed some time to get to know to each other but as soon as we found out that we can trust each other we started enjoying our days to the fullest. He even allowed me stay at home while he was at work although he said before that he normally doesn't want people to stay at his house while he is away.
In the next days Don showed me several things in the area such as the Minyon Falls(huge Waterfalls), Lismore Uni, Byron Bay, and the Hippie village Nimbon. In addition, we had very nice evennings chatting, eating and singing all sorts of songs.
However, the main thing about my travels so far is that u meet so many people and u know that u have to leave them again in about 3 days. So Don dropped me at a good spot for hitvhing to tweed heads where my next host were already waiting!

Tewodros , this book will have a special place on your boekohslf. This book isn't about information . If you need information , look elsewhere. This isn't snackfood. It's not about a quick-fix to problems in your life. (Go see your psychologist.) It's about seeing life in a whole new life-altering perspective. The book takes you through Katie's laser-focused process of systematically destroying everything you thought you knew about life and simplifying it down to it's beautiful core. The book works its way around a number of topics, but the theme always comes back to The Work , a simple set of questions that allows you to really see what is going on around you. It's about how to wade through life without the weight that is currently on your shoulders. She takes you through an amazing journey that will show you that even in the worst of circumstances that the only villain is your own thoughts. I've read all of Katie's work. I've met Katie in person. I love that this stuff isn't pie-in-the-sky pink-crystals-and-new-age-music stuff. It's real. It's very specific. It has changed real people's lives. And if you let it flood your mind, it will change you forever in a positive way. To be specific, this guide is a compilation of many bits from her other books. However, because they are in small bites, they really strike you deep in your heart. I absolutely loved this book and plan to re-read it regularly.
