Leg 2 of my epic journey seemed an excellent opportunity to grab some sleep. Wrong. It seems the Polish and Lithuanians haven't quite grasped the the meaning of an open border. (here's a hint guys, it means you don't have to check the passports of everyone on the bus at 2am, innit magic?)
My passport photo has started upsetting officials again. I usually alleviate the problem by adopting the friendly and amicable expression in the photo, but having being woken up, I found myself unable to conjure up anything but a look of utter hatred, burning my loathing into his very soul. The muttered gypsy curses probably didn't help either. After producing a few more documents and pieces of paper, my new was grudgingly satisfied and Pietr the Polish prat left me alone.
Alas, it was too late. I was unable to find again the comfortable and graceful stranded starfish position that had served me so well. Even replicating the lolling tongue and ever-increasing trail of drool came to no avail and sleep eluded me. I began today bitter, cynical and twisted, it's just like being at work.
As for the rest of Poland, it's pretty flat, pretty featureless and pretty boring. Plumbing is excellent though. So onwards towards the border and Ukraine to face more Day-Glo dimwits and Bureaucratic berks. I can't wait.
