Hey, we're currently in Orlando but this blog will be about Miami which I wrote while on the greyhound up here so it won't be cotemporaneous......
So, landed Thursday night around 19:30 with no real problems at all, Maj got stopped and asked where he was from, but with a quick response of London mate in his best c*** 'a' ney tongue he was allowed through and we were soon in cab driving through downtown Miami to what we though was our Hotel for three nights. Arrived there 20 minutes later only to find out that they had no record of our confirmation, after a while of trying to explain the situation and Maj printing off his email, the guy behind the counter tells us that he has never heard of the company which we booked it through, so be wary of using Hostelbookers.com!
After a quick phonecall we were soon on our way to Jazz on South Beach hostel, as we were getting out of the cab the driver warned to be careful as there 'always' fighting here, cheers mate, just what we wanted to hear! Soon found out that this was an isolated incident and was during the rugby, bloody eggchasers! Jazz on South Beach is an awesome place very laid back full of all the cool people you'd expect to find in a hostel in Miami.
Thursday night after checking in we went to an Irish bar on Washington Avenue where Gary (family friend who is living in Miami) bought us all dinner, top man much appreciated. Had a couple of beers just soaking up the atmosphere reflecting on how long we'd all waited for this and now here we were. Got back to the hostel around 12:30 - 01:00 for some much needed shuteye.
Friday 2nd November.
Woke up surprisingly early after the 8 hours sleep, got up and went to have a look for Miami Ink and get some breakfast. Miami Ink was cool after watching back home for so long, was actually shut at the time so didn't get to see any of the guys that worked there. Saw Ami working on some guy on Saturday night but I'll get onto that later. After some sausage and eggs in a little cafe over the road we went back to check out of our hostel as we'd only booked for one night. Got back booked for another night and headed straight to the beach for some Sun sea sand and some extremely hot latino women great Friday afternoon! After enough sun and sitting with our tongues hanging out of our heads we wenr back to Jazz had a quick srub up and went back to the Irish bar for some dinner and to play a little bit of pool. Later got shown around Miami but some gitl that hangs out at the hostel, ended up speaking to some random girls on the street who told me I look familiar and after asking where I was from told me that her brother lives in Scotland, yeah that could be love! Ended up in a bar called last weekend which was supposedly a cool place to hang out, was alright more a pool hall than anything else and a serious lack of single totty. Can't remember what time we got home so must of been a pretty good night.
Saturday 3rd November.
Woke up pretty early doors to see the last of the 'snal Man U game, went back to the hostel to check out again and got talking to a guy who told us it was cheaper to book online pay the deposit with a debit card and pay the full amount at the counter. Was a rigth result for us and ended paying for two nights what we had paid for one the previous night. Saturday afternoon just chilled out on the beach waiting for Saturday night where Gary was taking us to a club in Downtown Miami . Apparently you can't just walk into a club over here, you need to know someone to get you in or a "hookup" all a bit pretenscious if you ask me, but you've got to keep the riff raff out! After showering up we went out to get some grub and watch the boxing. Left here to make our way to the club called Karu and Y, on teh way to get a cab we walked past Miami Ink again where we saw Ami doing some work on a guy, kinda weird seeing him and with all the tourists outside felt more like a zoo than a tattoo studio. Made it to the club where a friend of Gary's got us in, good little club around five rooms playing funky house and R&B and latino jazz. Joe pulled a little stunning brazillian we all got battered and Nad spent around 300 dollars, great backpackers! All in all a great night out.
I'm running out of credit but I'll update you on Sunday and Monday shortly...........
