Hi Everyone
Well at last I can tell you what I have been up to over the last couple of weeks.
So going back a week and a half ago, before we had even left to go to Merimbula Harry became really ill and then 24 hours later I did aswell. We were planning to leave to go to Merimbula at 5am but because Harry was sick all night we didn’t end up leaving until 7am which was a good thing as I had ended up being sick all morning!!! What a nightmare. Both me and Harry were sick all the way to Merimbula which is a 7 hour drive and Sue and Lachlan had to keep pulling the car over so one of us could be sick……..NICE!!!!!
When we got to the apartment I felt so ill all I wanted to do was go to bed, Harry was over it by the time we got there and everyone was so excited. They kept trying to show me things and all I wanted to do was go to bed so I wasn’t very enthusiastic and the weather was crap and rainy!!!! So in the end I went to bed at 6pm and cried my eyes out feeling really ill and missing everyone back home, all I kept thinking was I am going to ruin the one holiday a year the family gets!!!
I woke up in the morning and its Monday now, felling a lot better and I could really get excited about being on holiday with the family. Georgia and Harry started feeding the parrots apple, they come and sit on the patio and on the bushes next to the apartment and are really tame. Because the family go to Merimbula nearly every year they know it really well so as I was feeling better Harry took me far a walk around the beach. The sea is so clear it was amazing, although the weather could have been better as it was still miserable!! There were loads of jelly fish in the water and I thought I am not going in their!! I also saw a lot of puffer fish and Harry had the pleasure in telling me that they really hurt if you stand on them so that was another reason for me not to go in the water. Because the weather was crap we went to the shops and had a look around and also the Tourist Information centre to pick up some leaflets on what you can do around Merimbula. We went and had a coffee in this lovely little place right by the sea with huge pelicans just walking around. Harry had this drink called the blue spider it looked gross and I just had to take a picture of it.
So the next day came and I felt really ill again and had to stay in bed all day………….the weather was miserable still so I didn’t mind to much. Sue, Lachlan and the kids all went out for the day to the beach not that it was hot enough to go in the water although the kids did (they are nuts I thought!!). It was Sue and Lachlan's wedding anniversary and I think they wanted to go out for dinner to celebrate but because I was still ill we all just stayed in for the night.
The next day came and its Wednesday now and hadn’t really done much because of the weather and being ill and it was such a shame as Lachlan and Sue had wanted to take me to this lovely place and show me so many things and we just hadn’t been able to do it yet and half the week had gone. The weather was a bit better on the Wednesday and I had been nearly all night being ill again, all I wanted to do was lay in bed again. But Lachlan said NO you are coming out with us today, so I got ready and reluctantly went out………..but I am so glad he made me as I had a fantastic day we went to magic mountain which is like a little theme park and I mean little!! The kids loved it and I went on the rides that didn’t make me feel sick, and at last the sun was shining it was great!!! Lachlan and me had a go kart race and because they have been there before he knew which of the go karts were the best and worst. But I didn’t know that and he told me to go in the certain go kart and him and Harry must have lapped me about 10 times!!! It was so funny. In the evening because I felt so much better we went out for dinner to a golf course club…..but this was no ordinary golf course club, there were hundreds of wild kangaroos just roaming the course and we sat and had our dinner over looking the course and the kangaroos…how amazing!!!
The next day the kids wanted to go to the beach and I didn’t feel 100% still, so they dropped me off and the shops and I just wondered around in the lovely sunshine, did a bit of shopping and walked back to the apartment.
So its Fri and the sun is shinning again and the weather is great. It made Merimbula just look so amazing with clear blue water and the sun shinning off of it making it sparkle I never wanted to leave. I got up early feeling great finally I felt better and I am moving on to the next place tomorrow!!! Me and Georgia went for a walk to the shops the sun was shinning down on us and the water looked amazing. We got to the shops and I had to phone Pam and Bill my Auntie and Uncle that live in Malua Bay and are meant to picking me up on the Saturday to take me to their house……but because I had been so ill I hadn’t thought about phoning them oops!! They were fine when I phoned them and arranged for them to come and pick me up the Saturday lunch time. I thought great that means I can go out Whale watching which I had wanted to do all week but couldn’t as I probably would have been sick on the boat and not enjoyed it. So I booked it and the boat was leaving at 9.30am Sat which meant it wouldn’t be back until 1pm and Pam and Bill were picking me up then. I just thought I will have to run back to the apartment as soon as the boat docks in. Me and georgia walked back to the apartment after buying pancakes and we all went to the beach. First we stopped at Tathra Pier which is a famous Pier but I can’t remember why now!! Then we went into the outback a bit through all this forest area and ended up in the middle of no where, Sue and Lachlan knew where they were but to me it was the middle of the outback ha ha!! So we walked through this bit of bush land and I was a bit jumpy thinking a snake or lizard would jump out and bite me….but it didn’t and we came to this lagoon ………Oh My God it was the most peaceful beautiful beach I had ever seen and we were the only ones on it. It was a bit windy but the sun was blazing hot. Got a bit of a tan and went in the sea as it was so clear I could see if there was any stingrays or jelly fish near me. The water was gorgeous so I just laid init and sunbathed and Sue took a photo of me the only one you will get of me in a bikini!!! I went Boogie Boarding and it was so funny as I caught a wave and my Bikini came straight off!!! But I didn’t care it was great fun and we were the only ones there. On the way back we stopped at Tathra pier again as there was a little coffee shop and we all had a hot chocolate and some chips over looking the beach, blue sky and sea it was great. In the evening as it was my last evening with the family until x-mas we all went out for dinner.
So Sat morning came and I didn’t sleep much as I was worried about missing my boat trip out to see the whales. I made it in time and we set off I made sure that I got a seat on top of the boat so I could get some good pictures. So we sailed around for about an hour and didn’t see anything apart from a seal which I have seen back home so nothing amazing there. But then suddenly we all saw this spout of water come out and the boat started heading towards it. Wow I though I can’t believe I am here watching whales rome the sea!! It was a mother and calf and we ended up getting about 50meters away. I am such a lucky person to be able to do something like this and it is something I will remember for the rest of my life. As soon as wee docked in I got off the boat and ran back to the apartment as I knew Pam and Bill would be waiting for me. It was so good to see them when I got there and I am surprised I could remember what they looked like. We had a quick drink and head off to Malua Bay just by Batemans Bay. When we got there it took about three hours it was so homely and Pam being mums sister just reminds me so much of her it was like being back at home again.
So Its Sunday now and we got up and had a good old English breakie.and went to the shops, we came home relaxed and had a BBQ in the evening. After me and Pam stayed up watching Kill Bill Vol 1. It was brilliant and I felt so at home.
Being with Pam makes me miss mum though but I am so lucky to be out here listening to all the stories about me family that I haven’t heard before and Pam being the oldest of all the siblings remembers everything. She has showed me pictures and told me stories about my Granddad Reg who I have never met as he died before I was born and it is like this is a part of me and my families history. Seeing pictures of mum when she was 21 and married with dad and I can’t believe how much I look like her. Pam keeps everything and has given me this letter mum had written to her of when mum had moved to England and I had just been born I was three months old and its all about me and Sarah, its so brilliant to be able to see things like that. Anyway enough of me babbling on about my family!!
Monday I got a parcel from mum and it had my coat in as it has been so cold here!! Whoever said to me before I come out here Australia was hot country is wrong!!! I have never been so cold in all my life. I hope that the weather gets better soon. So I got my coat and she had put some Weatabix in for me as they don’t have them out here and I was missing them so much.
I caught the bus into Batemans Bay yesterday which is Tuesday and had a walk round the shops its not a huge place and I couldn’t find an internet café to download my photos onto my web site, so you might have to wait until I get back to Melbourne.
It is so relaxing at Pam and Bills and have got my own little area to relax and my own bathroom and TV room, so I am just chilling now and reading lots which I have never done in England but I have the time to do it here and am enjoying it so much.
Anyway I think I had better stop as I have really written a lot this time.
