The flight from London to Singapore was very good, apart from landing with a thud and the oxygen masks dropping, which scared the life out of me!
Our first impression of Singapore was that it was a smart, clean and friendly city. It has also been strangely quiet.
It is very hot and humid out here and it has thundered both days, with the odd tropical rain shower to cool us down.
We are currently learning Singlish, the local language. We were in a taxi today, and the driver was explaining that he gave a lift to a Geordie in his cab earlier and he could not understand the accent, which made us laugh!
On a first day in the city, we visited the worlds largest observation wheel know as the singapore flyer, then onto the Grand Prix circuit. We wandered around looking for Lewis Hamiltons Skid marks. Haha!
Today we took a cable car from Mount Faber over to the island of Sentosa, which is known as a holiday playground for the rich and famous. Its a beautiful green island with beach areas, spas, the famous Merloin, and golf courses.
There are a million Malls in Singapore, one had over 10 floors, so I was in seventh Heaven!
To end a fantastic few days in Singapore, we took a night flight on the flyer, then took a trip over to the famous Raffles Hotel for a Singapore Sling Cocktail, followed by steak in the Long bar restaurant. Raffles Hotel is amazing, the colonial architecture, relaxing atmosphere and tropical gardens.
Packing our bags now, ready for our flight over to Oz tomorrow!
