Well I'm in Wellington... but I wish I was still in Queenstown!!
Absolutely LOVED the lifestyle in Queenstown, so much to do and see and so much going on. A really young place as well, so felt really alive whilst there (well, apart from all the hangovers - teapots full of cocktails at The World bar did not help!! tee hee).... Stayed at Discovery Lodge and went snowboarding two days running for more lessons at Cardrona - even went up on the chairlift on the second day - was absolutely terrified, but as the instructor put it - I know what I'm supposed to be doing and all my turns are there, its just all in my head - I need to just GO FOR IT and get down that mountain. I love snowboarding! Was so pleased with myself for getting down the slope, and when I do my next lesson I should be Level 3!!
Also went up the Gondola and then did the Luge at the top of the hill - three rides werent enough, so if you go then definitley sign up for 5 rides instead!
Watched lots of cocktails being made at the 42 Below World Cocktail Championship, which was fun. Lots of nights out with the Kiwi Experience Bus Crew - a great time was had by all. It was birthdays galore and any excuses for more drinks and shots in the Altitude Bar.
Left Queenstown on Sunday on Nancy's bus to get to Christchurch where just one night was spent before Roxanne and myself went onto Kaikoura on Monday morning on Andy's bus.... decided to go swimming with dolphins. Sounds like a lovely idea.... unfortunately there was a bit of a swell going on so when they sold us anti-seasickness tablets when we got our wetsuits, that should have been a clue.... got on the boat and it sure went up and down a lot... time came to jump off the back of the boat but I felt like I needed a bucket... decided to just launch myself off the back, but then got toldf to get back on again as we were going off to find more dolphins... got in a second time (this time I was just about able to breathe as the coldness of the water wasnt quite as much of a shock - it took my breath away the first time and I couldnt catch it!), but this time my mask started leaking... so I hopped (ahem) back onto the boat to get a new mask... we then moved around some more as just not having any luck getting the wild dolphins to come and play with us (15 crazy people making noises in the middle of the ocean would just annoy me too if I was a dolphin!)... by the time I got in the water the third time, I was starting to feel the effects of bobbing up and down and threw up. Yes, I thre up whist in the water looking for dolphins. Luckily I just managed to move my snorkel away at the last second. Nice. Then proceeded to throw up when I struggled back onto the boat too. Next time I go swimming with dolphins it will be hot and the sea will be calm...... luckily they gave us all a partial refund so Rox and I went shopping and I got a new hooded jumper - sweet!!!!!
Had a fun night in Kaikoura ;) and then we caught the ferry to Wellington on Tuesday lunchtime. Time to say goodbye to Driver Guide Andy as he heads off up the North Island, while Rox and I wait for the arrival of Georgie, Mary Faith, Maroon, Damo and Marty (on Thursday).
Went in the Wellington Cable Car today (not as much fun as Queenstown) and round the botanical gardens, then went to the Te Papa Museum. Oh and I had my hair done!!! Check out the photos for the new look me!!!
