With the Oz Experience we've come to a place called Kroombit Cattle Station - we had an extremely long drive to get here - about nine hours!!! But after a few pit stops, and a fun drive with driver-guide Stringer, we arrived and were ready to act like jackaroos and jillaroos (what the aussies call cowboys and cowgirls)! After a slap up meal, we all had a lesson in learning to crack a whip - I'm a natural apparantly... not sure when I'll be putting this skill into practise, maybe I should get a whip.... ha ha ha. But I started off with a short whip and quickly progressed to a long one: oh la la!
We then all had a go at riding a mechanical bull... I manged a whole two seconds. Beth handily took a video of it for me, thank goodness she only started it when I was actually on the bull though, as I couldnt even get on it and had to have a helping hand to get on from Jimmy! How embarrassing!! We (me and Beth) were on the bus again with Jimmy and Kelly which was nice, but Stew was still on Spank Me so we've moved on down the coast without him. Getting buses has proved to be a bit of a pain - its not as easy as the Kiwi Experience, and there arent that many buses so you kinda get stuck in places, or have to miss them out if there isnt a bus, and you dont stay with the same group at all. I guess its because it's Xmas time and EVERYONE is trying to get down to Sydney for Xmas and New Year - I think they will have to put on more buses soon though to meet demand. So anyway - we met some new people on the bus this time and everyone is moving onto Fraser next (except for Jim and Kells who are stopping at 1770 & Agnes Waters).
After the night in the dorms at Kroombit (where there were loads of frogs outside at night - yuk - and cane toads - double yuk!), we all had to get up early to go horse riding!!! We were actually herding goats whilst on horse-back - my horse was called Midnight, and was a bit particular about which horses he was friends with! Luckily you can tell if a horse doenst get on with another one, as it's ears go back, so everytime someone came near that Midnight didnt like I had to move out of the way! It was just a gentle walk though, so no galloping off into the sunset for me. After we'd herded up the goats, we all took part in a goat rodeo! Had to get into teams of three and catch a goat, turn it over and then pretend to brand it in the shortest amount of time - I was the brander in my team (easy)! We took a very slow 79 seconds to do our goat - but Kelly did a great job of catching the goat!
After the goat show we did clay pigeon shooting (I got one out of five) and lassooing - all in all a very active 24 hours!
