After the Phi Phi tour we spent a couple of pretty low key days in Krabi, mainly due to the weather. On the 9th we left on an early morning bus to Hat Yai where we boarded the sleeper train to Kuala Lumpur. It was quite a strange experience as we both had top bunks and spent the entuire journey lying against the roof of the train!
We arrived in KL at 5am and after a quick monorail ride found our hostel. The reception wasn't due to open until 8:30 so we spent a few hours sat in the street playing cards. At about 8, the hostel staff opened up and asked us why we hadn't just rang the bell outside......what bell?!
It was too late in the day to get tickets for the Petronas Towers (at 9:30 it was already too late!) so we headed for the KL tower. The views from the top were incredible, with a full 360 degree look over the city. We then went to find the lake gardens. We made it as far as independence square when the heat got a bit much for us and we headed back to the air conditioned mall!
The next day we did make it to the lake gardens via a butterfly farm. We even managed to see monkeys chasing butterflies across the net roof. We finished the day with a trip to see Quantum of Solace, which would have been great if the subtitles for people speaking in Bolivian in the film weren't all in Malay.....not a clue what was going on!
The next morning we managed to drag ourselves out of bed early enough to queue up for the Petronas Towers. These were pretty impressive even though the view from the skybridge wasn't as good as that from the KL tower.
