Last night was my first night working the bar. I think I did alright! My schooner's are about as consistent as my dart playing but there's plenty of time to improve! The locals will be the first to tell you if you don't do it right but I haven't made any enemies so far. I have even got myself a Terry Brown nickname, 'Jolene'. Must be due to the uncanny resemblance;)
I'm still very content here. It's obviously a completely different lifestyle to what I'm used to but I think I'm really enjoying the new experience. My days consist of a few chores around the pub/ guest rooms and then we usually chill out in the afternoon. I feel pretty active but there's also loads of time to just sit and read in the sun or by the fire, not a bad life! The weather is usally sunny and can get really warm but the evenings are pretty nippy! I am all about log fires and electric blankets!
We went to Mudgee the other day. Unfortunately its a car ride away but I must say I quite like the feeling of being cut off from the world - for a bit. It's a really pretty town, I enjoyed my first flat white in a while and we did our weekly shop. I've promised to cook a few meals for the fam, just my usual; pancakes for brekkie, homemade pizzas (my new specialiaty). I'd make a well good farmer's wife!
Don't worry, it won't be long until I'm itching to be back in Sydney:)
So today I have successfully completed 7 days of my 'regional' work. Only 81 to go!!! I plan to commence the day with a pancake coma. Then chill out in the sun, perhaps work off the breakfast with a country walk. Save my energy for the evening as we will be working the bar again. It gets quite busy and it feels very foreign to me but I'm hoping to be a natural soon:)
All my love xxx
