Hi everyone have had a hectic and action packed couple of weeks which means have not really had any chance to update the blog. Since my last blog I have visited Magnetic Island which was just off the coast off Townsville. Magnetic Island is called 'Maggie' by the locals and I went over there to visit with my German friends. The island is lovely as there is loads of wildlife, especially koala bears and the views were spectacular. We walked round most of the island in the morning but then we resorted to hitchhiking to make our way round the rest of the island. We got picked up by two Irish guys and there were six of us crammed into this really small hire car like sardines in a tin. Saying that it was more fun than most rollercoasters I've been on!!!
The following day I decided to continue south on my travels to Airlie Beach. The coach took about 5 hours to reach Airlie but I got there just when the sun was setting and it was gorgeous. I can probably say Airlie has been my favourite place I've visited since being in Australia. Whilst staying in the hostel I made loads of great friends from different countries including Estonia, Canada and Sweeden to name but a few. Also made friends with some guys from Wigan and I generally just had a really fun week of partying at night and then lazing around the lagoon during the day. I didn't get chance to do any sailing but I'm definitely going to go back up in a few weeks to do some sailing. I stayed in Airlie Beach for just over a week and then made the trip to Brisbane with my Canadian friends. It's mad how far apart places are over here in Oz and we had to set off at 6am to arrive at 7pm. When arriving in Brisbane I was surprised how busy the place was but Brisbane has been slowly been growing on me.
I'm now staying in Manly which is one of the suburbs outside of Brisbane with my friends Elwyn, Marc and Naomi. Manly is a nice place to be living as the centre of Brisbane is quite expensive. It is near Morton Bay and is quite close to some islands which I'm hoping to go camping to in the next couple of weeks. Brisbane is really diverse and I love the daily life as it's really lively. I've also found a job now in Brisbane selling electricity door to door which will hopefully help finance the rest of my trip to New Zealand and Asia. Hope everyone is well and check out my pics if you get chance!!
