after arriving yesterday at a sweet little village 200 metres from amalfi, atrani, i found my hostel. it was an hour and a half bus ride along the winding road from sorrento, but the scenery was spectacular. after cooling down from carrying my pack in thirty degree heat. i wondered to amalfi for a spot of window shopping, the amalfi coast is not exactly the cheapest place in europe!
today i jumped on the bus again and went to ravello and positano. ravello would have to be at least 700 metres above the coast of amalfi coast, but right on the edge. it is not a touristy as sorrento and amalfi, and the weather for the first time was cloudy, but still humid. i went to some beauitful gardens called villa cimbrone, which would have had great photos of the surrounding area if it wasn't cloudy! it was a lovely little village. just what you would expect the italian country side should be. that afternoon i ventured to positano, which like sorrento and amalfi very touristy, but also very steep! the bus arrvies at the top of positano and then you have to walk down the winding road, but there are plenty of shops to entertain along the way. i am now back in atrani, sitting in the piazza (square) with a beer and typing this on a wifi laptop from the local bar! at the moment the photos are boring, when i get back to london, i'll upload mine.
tomorrow is the long trip from amalfi to bari to catch the ferry to patras in greece where i meet mei ling. i'm looking forward to seeing a familiar face!
