it's now day 3 of my trip. after arriving safely in naples, i found my way to my hostel, bella capri hostel, which was a nice hostel. that night i went out for pizza with a few other people from the hostel (would you eat anything else in the home of pizza!). the next day i went to the museum of archaeological, which has ruins from pompei, well worth seeing. that afternoon, i walked around naples, it not as bad as i thought it would be. later in the afternoon i travelled from naples to sorrento.
after arriving at sorrento, i found the hostel mami camilla, what a surpirse this turned out to be, brand new hostel\hotel\cooking school, set on a half acre. it was really nice and relaxing. that night i ate a four course meal for 15 euros made by the students at the cooking school, it was great (thanks for the tip, matt). i ended up eating each night there, everyone ate together outside, ages ranging from 20's to 60's and all different countries of origin.
on the 8th of july, i went to pompei and explored sorrento. pompei was fantastic, a place i have wanted to go to for a long time. it's amazing how 2000 years ago they had drainage and under floor heating. it was very hot and dusty, but worth the trek around the massive site. that afternoon, was in sorrento and i had my first gelati! sorrento was very touristy, but i expected that, it is also beautiful, a great place to base yourself on the amalfi coast.
on sunday, i ventured to capri by ferry, then another boat around capri and into the blue grotto. capri like the other bigger towns on the amalfi coast is busy, but full of expensive shops, big yachts and beautiful people! the blue grotto was amazing, but dangerous to get into i nearly had my head chopped off. once you are in you can see this amazing blue or azure coloured water and to go with it singing rowmen!
