Hey everyone sorry its been a while since i updated this thing but i haven't really done that much worth writing about. Most of the time i have just been working and trying to save money. The office job i was doing turned out to be pretty good. I was just entering people home loan deals onto the system, then creating a profile file for them, then linking it with their loan deal. It wasn't too complicated but more thought was involved than straight forward data entry. Also the people i worked with were cool. Most were kiwis but a guy from Manchester (damn northerners get everywhere! They're like cockroaches!) started the same day so we ended up getting the bus in together every day which was alright.
The first payday we decided that we'd had enough of saving and doing nothing so me, Gary and Jammo decided to go out. First we went out to dinner at a stonegrill restaurant which was cool coz you cooked the food yourself on a really hot stone. It was really nice but could have done with bigger portions! But then i can always do with bigger portions! We then went to a few bars around the viaduct (the marina area) which were ok. We decided to do the thing where we put our money in a whip, then take it in turns to chose a drink but drinks are not allowed to be replicated. We then went into a 70s club called Boogie Wonderland which was a good laugh. It even had a flashing dancefloor and horrible old 70s wallpaper on the walls. A very classy establishment as you can imagine. We sat at the bar for a few hours carrying on with our non-repetition of drinks which resulted in us drinking some weird and wonderful drinks including margheritas and martinis (shaken not stirred!). After we ran out of money we danced like idiots until the club shut at 4.
The next day we all woke up with considerably lighter wallets and Gary had stolen a coctail strainer a a big battery which we can't for the life of us think where he got it from! We decided then that we shouldn't go out and get drunk any more coz its too expensive!
That night was our only big night out really. I've been to the cinema lots. Saw some good films (TMNT, Sunshine, Black Sheep, 300), some ok films (Shooter, Disturbia, Wild Hogs) and possibly the worst film i've ever seen (The Reaping). We also went to see Spiderman 3 the other which i was pretty disappointed with. The action scenes were pretty good and i really liked the Sandman but there were some ridiculous bits in it and i thought the ending was a bit lame.
Other than that i tend to go to the pub on friday nights to watch the Super 14 rugby which i've gotten into. I've adopted the auckland blues as i've been in auckland longer than anywhere else. They had only lost one game this season before i started supporting them but then lost 3 on the trot and were in danger of missing the playoffs. However they won last night and made the semis. Me and Jammo actually went to see them lose to the Sharks at the north harbour stadium which was the game that started their losing run. It was good fun but i think i'm a bad luck charm!
I also went up the auckland sky tower on one of my days off and as you can see from the photos i went up at sunset which was pretty cool. Also me, Jammo and Leah went up Mt Eden which is an old dorment volcano that is 195m high and is now all covered in grass. The view up there was amazing. I could see for miles round 360 degrees. the crater was cool as well. Apparently a few years ago students lit a big fire in the crater so that all people in the city could see was the volcano smoking. I thought this was quite funny but it sounds like it didn't go down very well. Also the crater was full of cows. How are they going to get out?!
Also one day me and Gary went on a boat called the Breeze. It has loads of sails and is meant to go pretty fast but ironically there was no breeze so we just plodded along which was cool and pretty relaxing and we got a good view of the city form the boat. We also helped them put the sails up and down when a bit of wind did appear. Gary works at the maritime museum so we got to go on the boat for free which was cool.
Other than that i haven't really done much. However, my working stint is now over and next stop is Queenstown for bungy jumping and white water rafting! I can't wait! If i survive i'll let you no how it was soon. If you don't hear from me then you know i've obviously put too much weight on during my travels and the bungy rope didn't hold me! (Mum: I'm only joking and i'm not in any way tempting fate!)
