Hey all
I'm seriously loving it here besides the fact that you wake up almost 'stuck' to the mattress due to the humidity. Oh and last night, Yumin and I couldn't sleep properly, all night as you could just hear the clicking noise that the geckos make and its so loud! Argh!
We were up bright and early today due to the fact that we couldn't sleep properly. We decided to take a walk to the beach to see the sunrise. So beautiful with the sun rising behind the shipwreck there. The contrast of black and white. Simply stunning.
Day two of our program with the OMEX timber kids today. More songs, memory verses, sports and prayers. Today we showed a DVD to the kids, a lot of the kids there have never had this opportunity before so they were extremely fascinated but the animations and colours. Although a lot of them didn't understand the English spoken in the DVD, they totally loved it! We all improved our leadership skills as well.
After the program, the children all went home so Pastor, Yumin, Seb and I borrowed the ute and went out to the local market. We waved to all the people we passed, and most waved back. There was also a guy at the corner GTL market that waved to us and screamed out 'I love you' and Yumin (without thinking) screamed back 'I love you too'. I seriously think that she made his day!
We went to buy some coconuts to drink and by the time we got back to the base, we decided that we wanted to learn how to climb the coconut tree ourselves. Allen went to the shed to get some rope to tie around our feet and off we were - hugging the coconut tree and using our legs to push up! Haa. Seb and Liwu were the only ones that reached the top, Seb also got himself a very fancy looking bruise on his chest.
We then took some of the little kids from OMEX to the local beach and little Dylan went nude and insisted that he sat on the neck of Cheng. Classic! The little kids also hang off you, i downed a lot of really salty water. Gross! The kids were also showing us how to jump off the pier and into the water so Cheng decided to go and do the same. Unfortunately, he hit his backside on the rocks underneath the water which caused ringing in his eyes and changed his vision to turn yellow. It seemed really serious so we rushed to drop the kids off and went back to base so that he could rest.
Feeling drained but blessed with a wonderful day!
With lots of love, jo xo.
