Wednesday, 6-13-2012:
Up at 6:30am ahead of Joe again, so I started the coffee and he got up about 20 minutes later. We had coffee, talked, and watched the morning news. Then he fixed another one of his breakfasts--scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast. After a little more TV & talking, I cleaned up and loaded the RV with my overnight bag and drove off at 9:30. Planning to arrive in Mountain View, MO at 3:30.
I gassed up in Charleston, MO at 12:30, then back on the road. I had a shaky stretch where I had to cross what seemed like a narrow long bridge across the Ohio River. It wasn't too bad since they had one lane closed and we had to drive slow for the construction. A sigh of relief on the other side turned to a tensing up when I turned left and saw yet another narrow and long bridge. This time it was to cross the Mississippi River--it could have been Lewis, Clark, and Pitcock at that moment...!!!
I had mostly four lanes all the way with some interstate, but mostly US-60--the same road that went through the place where I was born, Huntington, WV. The RV park was right on the same road, so it was easy to find and was a very welcome and inviting site.
Told the ladies in the office about my adventure and then when I was greeted by my "next door/RV neighbor", I repeated it to heard and also heard about her adventure (also solo) from El Paso, TX to Washington, DC--but via a zig-zag route. Her name was Ellen.
Anyway, I got the power & water hooked up, the air turned on, and the hot water heater on for a nice shower in the morning. I won't worry about the "stinky slinky" since I will only be here one night and then it's onto Cave Springs, Arkansas (just south of Bentonville--Walmart's HQ. I also got an e-mail from Darius and we are still on for golf on Friday at the RV park.
I talked to Peggy while she was on her way to work, then i called Nina who just finished a gourmet weight-watchers meal with Micki. Next up was a long talk with Bonnie & Jescie. Unfortunately, we're not going to be able to meet up with each other--Jescie will be with her Dad for Father's Day and Bonnie is going to Colorado for a car show. Sell lots of stuff Bonnie...!!!
After the calls, I made some notes, looked at various routes for tomorrow's drive, relaxed and then called it a day at 11:00.... Praise God for watching over me...
