Hello hello hello!
We have just arrived in Mission Beach and it is pouring with rain!! Hence the blog update...
So, we left off at Airlie beach, and since then we have been to the Barrier reef, Long Island Beach Resort and sailing the Whitsundays! Its amazing what you can do in 5 days!
Last thursday morning, we left Nomads hostel, Airlie Beach at 6.45am. A little early for us both...and I know for sure that the people sharing our dorm were probably not impressed either!!
From there, we made a transfer to the port where we were picked up by Cruise Whitsundays, ready for our day trip to the barrier reef!! The crew on board were very friendly and we basically got the mick taken out of us all the way there for being brummies! Damn the accent :-)
As we arrived at the barrier reef pontoon, we were a little anxious. we didn't know what to expect...the ocean is a huge place and thinking of driving in there was a little scary! then add to that the huge fish swimming right underneath your feet...!!
The barrier reef was AMAZING! Jez had a face off with a clown fish! We just couldn't believe that we were actually seeing the actual barrier reef..nemo and all! We have lots of underwater pictures that we are waiting to receive from a guy who let us borrow his underwater camera. He was a good companion...I think jez was glad to have him around to talk sport with. He was good friends with Rory McKilroy which obviously got Jez very excited! He was also a medical student, so I took to grilling him about all sorts of medical stuff!! Bet he loved me.
At the end of our amazing day on the reef, we were dropped off at Long Island, one of the whitsunday islands, where we spent the night and the next day chilling, kayaking, playng tennis and crazy golf. A much needed rest.
On the third day, we sailed the whitsundays...WOW! amongst many beautiful places, Whitehaven beach was just perfect! I can't even explain. The day was topped off nicely by spotting a humpback whale and his baby swimming by our boat and thousands of boats sailing in the Hamilton Island regatta. The whitsunday Islands we truely spectactular. We loved it.
Since then, we have travelled up to Townsville, where we took a hike up to CAstle HIll lookout. A nice chilled out day with some beautiful views over Townsville.
Like I said earlier, we are now in Mission Beach and are hoping to get out for a wander this evening before dinner...cheese, tomato, ham and onion omlette with a corn on the cob! No-one can say we're not eating well...
White water rafting tomorrow which should be fun fun fun :-)
We hpe that everyone is well at home. Keep us updated!
Love you all
