Our unforgettable holiday in Sydney all began with lots of whispering , secrets and what I thought was 'birthday' planning. How wrong I was...
Driving into Sydney, Jez and I noticed the first christmas warehouse that we'd seen, with a man stood outside dressed as santa. This seemed very weird to us, given the bright sunny day it was! Chsirtmas just isn't christmas without snow and coldness!!
Our first day in Sydney was refreshing. We had reached a city with some actual people in it and some big buildings and not so much sea and sand. We decided we would visit Paddy's Market...see what tacky souveneirs we could pick up. Are you all looking forward to recieving our christmas presents now?? Shopping on Sydney's main highstreet was a little bit miserable, given that we have no money to spend. But Jez seemed pretty content with his Vans and Fred Perry Shops!
Day three in Sydney was one of the best days I have ever had! I finally realised what all the whispering had been about when Jez decided he would propose to me on top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge while doing "The Bridge Climb"! It seemed everyone was in on his little secret. Except for me who had no idea and thought that he was messing around with a piece of metal he had found at the top of the bridge...!!!!!!!! I am so excited about being engaged and cannot wait for the day (when we have finally finished paying for this trip and have got some money) that I can marry him!
The wonderful day did not finish there. Only after I had been checked in to a hotel on Darling Harbour, with a bottle of champagne, a meal out, conveniently timed fireworks and a congratulations song sang by the restaurant staff, was our perfect day complete. All tucked up in a kindsize bed in a beautiful hotel room. Words cannot explain how excited and happy I was and still am about that day!
We woke up to 2 more days of sunshine in sydney, that consisted of trips to the markets on 'The Rocks' and Bondi Beach!! we were clearly not cool enough to be on Bondi Beach, but a lie in the sunshine was exactly what was needed!
After I had finished crying about having to leave the hotel and go back to our hostel, we went to Hyde park to enjoy our last day in sydney. We sat watching skaters in the park and just chilled out some more at a 'noodle festival'!
We fell in love with sydney and hope that we can go back one day. For now, it was time to move on to Melbourne on an overnight coach...Interesting...
