My very first trip overseas. I've done so many domestic flights before, I couldn't even count them. I thought international would be just the same. Boy, was I wrong.
I got to the airport at 11am to meet up with Abby and Angie. Mum, Bec and the boys dropped me off, of course I had a teary saying goodbye to Jack and Caleb.
I got the surprise of my life though when I got back from the bathroom!!!
Kylie and Bruno had come to see us leave. Apparently my face was priceless. It was so calming to see them, and we had a good laugh.
Time to say goodbye. No tears thankfully. I had been messaging and facebooking all morning so when we were going through customs I didn't believe the girls when they said not to bring out my phone. It's an offense apparently. Blonde moment coming up: I said they should put signs up coz I wouldn't have know not to take my phone out. And then Abby points, and there are signs EVERYWHERE!!! Derrrr.
The flight went really well. 9hrs!! I got to watch 3 movies, the vow, in time and wish you were here. We all had our own iPad 3 each. And we had booked the front row of the block of seat, so we had heaps of leg room.
We land in Bangkok and I didn't spew!!!!! woo hoo!!
We left the plane and could do a bit of shopping. I got a Lancôme eyeliner for $20. I'm happy with that. In my haze I went past the duty free grog. Was thinking about buying a 1 ltr bottle of my favorite vodka for $18, but walked away. Am I kicking myself now?? You betcha!!!! I was just thinking, I'm going to catch a plane tomorrow, how do I pack that. Oh well I'm sure I get another bargain down the track.
First thing that hits me when we leave the airport is the heat, even at 9.30 at night it's still 30°. We got an air conditioned taxi to our hotel. $26 a night for a room each, with a king bed. It's a very clean room, with aircon!!!! Necessary!!!
With the time difference though I woke at 5.30am. It's 8.30 melb time.
Don't know what we're doing today other than flying to Chiang Mai at 6pm.
