Hyraxes chatting, birds singing and the sun shining. The butler bids me a good morning as he delivers my cup of tea to my tent at 7.30am. I roll over take in the views and reply good morning.
Georgia and I then spent the morning cleaning 2 rooms for guests arriving in a few days. Then went on to spend our afternoon lounging by the pool until sunset. After dinner the guys brought us hot water for our showers before bed. In the shower was the spider I had lost the night before near my bed, so we made an agreement of which side of the shower we would each stay on. (I only then discovered the next day there was in fact 2 of that exact species of spider)
After another good nights sleep and a wonderful breakfast we went for a walk with Simon who took us up to Leopard Hill. He showed me some trees which people have used for a long time. One which is used as a plaster and has natural antibiotic properties in the bark. Another trees leaves are used as sandpaper. A small purple flower can also be used for eye drops. It was fascinating learning a bit about the worlds history, understanding how the Hunter Gatherers survived and used the bush for their benefit.
We then double checked the rooms and swept the paths before trying to rid ourselves of peculiar tan lines. Simon and Joshua then took Georgia and I on a evening game drive where I found Giraffe, Crested eagle and a Python. Simon stopped us at a giant Baobob tree which had been hollowed out by elephants over many years as they drink the water that lay inside the bark. We continued on to the waterhole where I managed to identify the footprints of a leopard and wild dogs. Simon then called me "Bush Woman" as he was in shock that I could identify the markings. We then enjoyed a bottle of wine, watching that beautiful African sun kiss goodbye the acacia trees for the day.
