(Wrong picture for blog entry but they dont have any with california on) Im sure this is what LA looks like by night though.
Well LA started out a bit ropey but got better and better!
I really didnt want to do the usual studio stuff or disney land but I did take a tour around the whole of LA ( which was with the hostel) it lasted all day which was excellent! So let me do a day by day account round up :
Saturday - took 2 hours to compose myself to step foot out of the hostel gates! Then took the bus to the Farmers market and The grove shopping centre! Amazing place the toilets were the best ive ever seen! Slightly lost at one point but 2 ozzys but me back on track! Back at the hostel I met fellow roomies who were all lovely. However Im on the top bunk bed and the construction methods did not meet any British standard what so ever, even breathing there was a sway! Luckerliy Chris was underneath and had been there for a month doing a directors programme so he was used to it! We laughed most days about it to be fair and you kinda got used to the swaying - infact I think it sent me to sleep.
Sunday - Now a hardened traveller ( lol - not!) I took the tour bus, we saw all the celebs houses including the one I wanted to see - Fresh Pince of Belare! I was extremely made up ! Venice Beach, hollywood Sign, the sunset strip, all the stars in the floor ( thats quite boring really) , some famous film parts eg the hotel out of pretty woman, another farmers market! and lots more!
Monday - I went to Melrose Avenue where there was reasonably priced shops and chilled out. The that evening I went out with Jared and Scott from NZ and we ended up at a club to see a band called Steel Panther - a rock band that also put on a show! Really funny and I got in with flip flops on ( bonus)
Tuesday - Kieran, Gareth and I decided to go to the Hollywood sign again for a walk but ended up taking the long route so it took about 3 hours up hill through national parks ( i wasnt incharge of the map) but it was a good day! Little legs hurt!!
Wednesday - I went whale watching! amazing to see the blue whale ! We also saw dolpins who came and surfed with the boat! Excellent! and sea lions ! I took the metro down town which took about 2 hours and through the ghettos! Quite a few odd people boarded but I was please to see the other side of LA!
One guy had the best bike Ive ever seen - if you can imagine a normal bike with the following modifications -
Tin foil wrapped around the spokes, Handle bars extended to 90cm in a harly davison style , seat lowered and finally using bungee grips he had strapped on a large ghetto blaster between the handle bars!! Absolute class!! haha
Thursday - I stayed up on Wednesday night to do kareoke at the hostel which was a late one and very funny so it was a well deserved lie in and washing etc, getting ready to fly to Hawaii.
Jon and I had given togar ( a lad in my room) a lesson on washing eg no new stuff etc to then go and do the fatal mistake myself and now have had to throw away a dress, hoody and t-shirt! Still on a learning curve but now my PM skills are kicking in and I seem to be able to organise my transport and get around!
Hawaii here we come.....
