I think I was a fish in a past life. I love aquariums, I could spend all day in one. I am kinda following an English family around which is a little creepy but it's nice to hear English. Although practicing my French everyday is helping. The lady at the aquarium reception helped me practice too, we had a basic conversation like at school in French.
Do you know what a cod looks like? Well I didn't, I do now lol
It's amazing how quickly they cleaned the streets of confetti today, I explored the town a little today, it's beautiful with arches everywhere. It was funny yesterday, the things i noticed that wouldn't have happened in England. There were little kids sitting on the floats right on the edges, no barriers. No barriers along the streets either, common sense said don't stand in the road when a float is coming lol And most of the people involved on the floats were drunk or drinking. Health and safety doesn't exist here...it is a better world lol.
I've been sooo lucky with the weather so far, still stunning sunshine. I've decided I'm definitely going to chase the sun, I had a look at the map last night and made a bit more of a plan for the week ahead. I'm heading back to Paris this afternoon and staying until Tuesday evening when I've decided to head south to Marseille. That's right, the south of France :) it's going to be hot by the Mediterranean sea, don't be too jealous lol
I'm in Le Wilson a restaurant at Trocadero near the Eiffel Tower, I can hardly believe it. Eating alone is still my hardest challenge when travelling, I tend to get food from stands in tourist areas. However I chose the restaurant that looked like it had the most English/American people in it. I'm sitting next to an English couple about my age and all they have said to each other in the last 20 minutes is that the food here is better than the restaurants from the last 2 nights. This is good news for me but how boring for them lol! I want to see the Eiffel tower lit up, it is still light at the moment, after dinner I will have a look. I have just had the best steak ever! Fact!
I'm staying in my first hostel tonight, I'm a bit nervous but excited too, I want a chance to meet other travellers, just not sure how to do it!
I helped some English people at the metro station today to use the ticket machines, it made me feel great, it's weird. I've realised how quickly I pick things up, except for languages it seems, but I'm surprised at how well I navigate places and don't feel scared about getting lost!
I've been managing to pick up free wifi pretty much everywhere which is great for booking my trains and planning my next move and of course writing my blog.
I sat with over 300 people waiting for the lights on the Eiffel tower, it was worth it :) and out of nowhere when the lights went on a panpipe band started playing and street performers appeared, I love it here! I went to the Arc De Triomphe as well before heading back to the hostel where I am now. I'm a lot less nervous but have yet to talk to anyone :s
I've booked my train to Marseille for 2moz evening and have booked a hostel for when I get there. I have most of 2morro to continue exploring Paris and then off to the beach :)
