Koh Phangan was not how I expected it at all. As it was the Party Island of Thailand, it was still quiet but much bigger than I thought too. We had arrived late-afternoon so we spent this in the pool before hitting a swedish bar for some food. By this point I had realised why I have got so fat when I had ordered my 7th curry and a bottle of Chang beer. There were body paints on the table so we all painted each other before walking down to the beach. Every night Haad Rin beach has a beach party - which are amazing. Fire dancers, music and bars everywhere. You can order Shisha, dance on the tables and a ricketty stage also. After an hour spent here we took a taxi to another part of the island for the Half Moon Party. This was basically a rave in the jungle. It surreal but amazing at the same time. So many people there but I was told that the entry fee was used to pay off police so they left the place alone.
The next morning we were all pretty hanging but headed down to get a taxi boat called "Snoop Dogg" - Supposedly Snoog Dogg and Eminem had travelled on the boat. We stopped off to do some snorkelling - which took so long to get used to. Stopping off at a beautiful beach resort for lunch we then headed to the waterfall. Unfortunatly it was about to storm so we couldnt trek up to the bigger one but the smaller waterfall was still nice to swim in. After a couple more stops at some secluded beaches it was time to head home, grab dinner and back down to the beach party.
I woke up the next morning with a burn on my shoulder where I had dived through a ring of fire. Nonetheless, we taxied it to a more private area of the beach where we were to do Elephant Trekking. Before, we were introduced to the owners pet monkey who was so friendly he just sat on my head. The monkey had a pet kitten also - it was bizzarr. Elephant Trekking was amazing - half-way through I got off the chair and sat on the elehants neck instead and tried my hardest to stay on.
Later on, I had a Thai massage. It was strange as they literally climb on top on you and attempt to click your bones in every position. After, I swear I was in more pain than when I walked in.
The Fairwell dinner was later that evening where everybody laughed at the drunken antics of the week just gone. The next day we planned to head to Koh Tao but instead spent the day by the pool and then later went to a pool party - was hilarious.
