Day One:
Waking up in Kuala Lumpur was amazing! We woke up pretty early and headed down for our breakfast! This hotel has the best breakfast buffet ever! It had everything you could ever want! We are as much as we could then decided to go and check out the pool! It was so nice so we decided we would spend our afternoon tree but first it was off to the pavilion which is a huge mall only five minutes walk from the hotel! The mall was huge and had a big Christmas display on the ground floor it was gorgeous! We walked around the mall shopping for hours, it was a little overwhelming as there are so many shops! After shopping we walked back to the hotel and decided to go and relax at the pool as it is incredibly hot here! The weather is really muggy so the air is so heavy it took a bit to get used to breathing in the hot air! While at the pool we spotted the hotel spa and decided to book in for pedicures. This was amazing, after walking around all day it was nice to get pampered! After this we were so tired so instead of going out for tea we ordered room service, we got pizza and chocolate cakes it was so good! Once we had eaten we fell straight to sleep it was only about 7.30pm haha so we must have been exhausted! Looking forward to tomorrow, we are going to visit the petronas twin towers! :)
Day two:
Got up early again today and decided to go shopping at the pavilion again before heading to the petronas towers after lunch. It was super hot again today so booked a shuttle to drop us at the petronas towers. At the bottom of the towers there is a mall so we looked around here for a while, we couldn't find where to book tickets to got up the towers so decided to have a look around the big park outside instead! After a while sitting outside we decided to walk back to the hotel. We tried for a while trying to get some free wifi so we knew where we were going but jut ended up asking a man for the general direction of the hotel and started walking that way. Little did we know it doesn't take very long to get sick of walking in this heat and crossing roads here is really hard since none of the pedestrian lights really work and nobody stops. So we did a lot o running across roads. When we got back to the hotel we just relaxed for a while then got ready for tea, we decided to have one night dining at one of the hotels restaurants. I'm glad we did too it was delicious, we got a entree, main, dessert and cocktail for 73rm so about 35nzd so cheap! After tea we were completely exhausted again so decided just to watch tv in bed for the rest of the night. Tomorrow we are off to a mall that has an indoor amusement park, excited!!!
Day three:
Decided to have a bit of a sleep in today since we have been getting tired at 7pm. Breakfast yet again was amazing! We then got ready and decided to walk to this mall with the amusement park that was about 20 min away. Big mistake! It was only about 10am but it was boiling, it was extremely muggy so after 5min walking you were completely soaked as the humidity is crazy, the walk there was also kinda creepy with old abandoned houses and the footpaths were pretty much non existent! We eventually got there and couldn't wait to get inside the air conditioned building! This mall was completely different to the others we had been in, it didn't have the high end brands like the other malls, it instead was very Asian with all the shops having the exact same clothing and everything being really cheap. The amusement park was crazy, I'd never seen anything like it, it ran from the fifth level of the building to the eight and had lots of rides! We decide to buy the ticket to get in and go on some I the rides. The first one we went on was so scary and the seats didn't make me feel a lot safer the seatbelt was just a band the you put round your waist, the whole time I was on the ride I thought I was going to fall out. The second on we went on was called the DNA twister it looked harmless but it was absolutely horrible you sat in the chairs and pretty much just spun really fast the whole time while going up and down we felt so sick after that! And the last was the roller coaster we said to ourselves we had to do it since it was the main ride. The roller coaster just weaves around all the other rides inside it wasn't as scary as we thought but after that we decided that was enough for one day haha we are sooks. We then found somewhere for lunch then decided to get a taxi back to the hotel since it was established it was to hot to walk. The taxi cost us 14rm so about 5nzd after this we wondered why we hadn't just taken taxis the whole time since it's so cheap. After this busy morning we decided to have a lazy afternoon and just sunbathed at the hotel pool for the afternoon!
Day four:
This was our last full day in Kuala Lumpur! It's gone really fast, we decided today to walk around the malls this morning then this afternoon we wanted to go to the aquarium as it was right in the city centre. After this we decided to head back to the hotel via taxi, here taxis try to get away with telling you the price they want rather then using the meter. We managed to get our fare from 30 riggit down to 15 riggit thanks to Helen negotiating skills. Once we got to the hotel we changed into more comfortable clothes and waited in the hotel foyer. We had seen earlier the hotel staff setting up the big foyer area with tables and chairs in preparation for a wedding. As we were waiting for our hotel transfer we saw a lot of people coming in wearing amazing traditional gowns! Once we were in the taxi the driver told us that the wedding was a royal one so no wonder the dresses were all amazing!! Our drive to the airport was really good as the driver told is a lot about Malaysia and where we should visit next time! Once at the airport we had about a two hour wait for our flight! Really looking forward to England!
Kuala Lumpur:
Shops here are either really cheap Asian clothing or really expensive brands so shopping was good but not great!
There can be really run down and abandoned buildings right in the middle of the city which can be weird
When you buy food here they add a service charge of 10% along with tax of 6% which was why we soon realised food wasn't as cheap as we thought!
I really enjoyed the experience of Kuala Lumpur but I'm not sure if il return again although I do really want to go to the batu caves one day!
