4th- 8th February.
Gosh! first thoughts of Bangkok is that it is a truly crazy city. On our hotel's doorstep we walked out to prostitutes, limbless beggars dragging themselves across the gutter, women with babies begging, parading elephants, eateries on the walkway with huge fryers and neatly set out table and chairs, many rats, vendors selling dried out or roasted bugs (cockroaches, scorpions, grass-hoppers). We spent most of the time walking on the road trying not to get in their way.
The traffic was also really herendous mopeds would avoid the traffic by mounting the pavement (like there wasn't enough going on)!!
In contrast to this they had an ultra modern transport system, that would put England to shame. A sky train that they were expanding, an under-ground system and a maze of pedestrian bridges over the busy streets. They also had super malls, our favourite had a gourmet supermarket and lots of different eateries, designer shops, even a floor that sold super cars (Farraris and other impressive cars). Then came our favourite floor, entertainment!!!, where you could watch the movies of your choice in different cinema modes, our favourite had to be IMAX-3D, you could watch it in VIP, normal then some other type (got a bit complicated for me the country cousin).
Overall we had a great time in Bangkok it has such a buzz of excitment.
