Hey hey! How's everyone?
I arrived in Christchurch last thursday lunchtime, got my bus and hostel sorted for the friday and then showered and had a nap as the little sleep I had on my 2 flights from Oz didn't really make of for the lack of a proper nights sleep! Met a lovely scottish girl in my room and we went out for dinner and drinks!
The next day I got the bus down to Wanaka which was very picturesque! The town here although it is very small is beautiful! The centre is a bit smaller than the centre of St Andrews but the lake is gorgeous. I am living about a 20 minute walk from town on the outskirts but the accomodation is seriously luxurious and I have my own room so am pretty pleased having spent 6 weeks sharing constantly!
So since i arrived and moved in, we've had lots of orientation and fitness prep as well as a fair bit of getting to know each other over a few drinks! Had the worst hangover on Sunday so have taken it much slower since then! Have bought myself some skiis, boots and poles as well!
Yesterday was my first day on the snow! As some people know, I haven't had the best 24hrs but am trying to be more positive now. Yesterday was a bit of a shock to my system seeing as I haven't skied in 6 years but by the end of the day I was feeling a bit better although when I got home I realised I'd cracked my big toe nail, which was far more painful than it sounds!
As a result of that and numerous other factors i decided to take my rest day today rather than heading back up the mountain like most people as I don't want to burn out too early.
Been feeling a bit low recently so messages would be grately appreciated as always! Guess homesickness is finally kicking in, and mixed with having a bit of a tough time is making me feel a bit crap! But trying to keep my chin up and soldiering on.
Love you all loads and miss you heaps.
Jen
