Jen's Journeys
That's right, this 35 year old got mistaken for a student today. And she will take it. And the 5.50 € it saved her! Today we met up with those girls that had been having problems to give them a little time to relax and connect with us. We also met up with our one boy again and his host brother. We headed over to the Guggenheim and actually went in this time! Jeanne went to the front of the group to inquire about student pricing, told them there were 3 students and 3 adults, but somehow when I walked up and handed them my 20€, I got a lot more change back than I was expecting! No worries - no students paid the adult price. :) anyway, the building is amazing, and there was a really cool temporary exhibit of a guy named David Hockney. Lots of cool stuff, which I won't lie, is not always the case for me in a modern art museum. I have a rule - if I could do it, its not art, because I am in no way an artist. So, when some modern art looks like something one of my nieces drew today, I just can't see how that person got paid for it. Or if nothing else, I want to get paid, too! Anyway, after that, we found a "kebab" place and I had some really good falafel for lunch. Food has been looking up for me the last two days. Then we took our one remaining girl with us for another art museum and some good old fashioned bumming around. We did discover throughout our day with her that a lot of these problems are because she seems to think everything that anyone does that isn't like her normal life is "weird". And although that doesn't help her situation, it makes us as teachers feel better that she's not really in a bad situation, she just doesn't seem to be able to adapt...to anything...at all. So, only 2 more days and they will all be back together. We did run into another student randomly, and she's having a great time with her family. For the most part, today is best shown through a couple of pictures. Hasta mañana!

Mom Another gray day???
Mom Just Weird......
Joan Blaschke Wow! I recognize Tico Wartman in the photo outside the Guggenheim. Yea! How neat that he has traveled to Spain. He is so apt in Sp. and upbeat and personable. Had him for 7 weeks last spring in Marissa's 3rd yr. class. He looks a lot taller that his Sp. brother???
Joan Blaschke Hola Tico, Que tal? Como va el espanol con los vascos? Has aprendido un poco de la lengua vasca????
Jen Charles I will pass your comments on - the students aren't attached to my blog. :) and yes, he is MUCH taller than his Spanish brother. I am taller than his Spanish brother, poor thing!
