After packing up camp we made the 300+ km drive to Darwin. Noticeable difference in temperature when we arrived. Alot more humidity and extremely bigger than we were expecting (even though it is a capital city). We organised to meet up with Cathy for the afternoon and had some drinks. Highlight today: finally being in Darwin!

Had a picnic in the park (randomly met up with Cathy!) then trekked the 4km escarpment at Katherine Gorge. Very hilly, hot walk to several lookout points over the gorge. Nitimiluk (the national park that the gorge is in) was named after the cicadas when they sing "Nit,Nit,Nit". Exhausted after our trek we read tourist brochures in the comfort of our van, then made hamburgers for dinner. Highlight today: trek at Katherine Gorge

So lovely waking up in our gorgeous bed, so happy to be back in the caravan! Visited Katherine's hot springs which looked very inviting (pictured). Drove out to Katherine Gorge but forgot our runners so decided to do the walk tomorrow. Highlight today: hot springs

Woke early and very keen to pack up and get back to our caravan and civilization! As soon as we arrived in Katherine we immediately bee-lined to 'The Coffee Club' for cuppacinos and beef burgers- best ever. The rest if the day was spent either in the welcoming crystal blue pool or cleaning up the car and trying to eliminate all the red dust. Highlight today: Savoring a real coffee at The Coffee Club

Today we had packed up camp and were on our way at 8.00am heading to Kunnanara. We passed only two outback towns and Mabel Downs cattle station on the 285km journey which was uneventful. At Kunnanara we purchased some supplies and continued another 300km across the border back into the Northern Territory and headed to an isolated camping spot (Sullivans Campground) for our overnight stop. Highlight today: driving past a dopey looking ox and making up ox voice...
