Travelled the long stretch of road heading toward Daily Waters. One of the roadhouses that we stopped at had alot of character and claimed "the best Barramundi pies, so delicious that you will eat poo" and "our fresh baked bread is so good it will give you an erection".
Travelling through the town of Elliot was different from any of the other towns we had been through. It was full of shoeless aborigines, rusted out cars, mangy dogs and all the shops were heavily protected with bars. So we stopped for lunch!
When we arrived at the famous Daily Waters Pub we quickly had a shower then headed to the bar for our first beer in three weeks!
We soon made lots of friends and followed that up with lots of beers. Bevan was the first real aborigine guy we met, he was in the army and lives in Booroola in the Gulf of Carpentaria. We also met Keith and Jeanette who live three houses down (there is only four houses in Daly Waters), "Rocked off" with the online world champion of Rock,Paper,Scissors (i lost) and then ended the night exchanging details with a couple from Spain (lucky we know how to say Cervasa and Tapas!). Headed back to the van $160 lighter and very drunk!
Highlight today: enjoying ourselves at the bar and meeting people.
