Tues 5th Feb. the trekking begins, everyone was up around 8am and we all went for breakfast at a small cafe round the corner from the hotel, we ended up leaving late though because it took so long for our food to be made- i dont think the cafe had ever had so many people in at one time!
we drove for about an hour until we arrived at this gorgeous waterfall where we stopped for about an hour and went for a swim. it was so refreshing and a nice way to start the trek!
after lunch, we had another short drive to where we started the trek, unfortunatly i had drank too much water in the morning and i needed the toilet before we even started- i wasnt the only one! so had to go in the jungle- SCARY!!!! thankfully nothing attacked me so i could begin the trekking. the trekking wasnt too difficult a few steep hills both up and down (going down was more difficult!) the scenery was gorgeous not quite jungle as wasnt too dense and through the trees i could see all the hills, trekking in the group was really fun!
after about 2 1/2 hours trekking we arrived at the village we were shown to our huts-sweet little basic bamboo huts with a sleeping mat- and then shown the squat toilet and cold shower!!!!!! after freshening up sunni took us on a tour of the village, it was a karen tribe village, the one where sunni grew up which was really nice. seeing the way the villagers live and make a living was really interesting. Sunni showed us his house, and we met his mum and sister who had a 6month old baby who was soooooooo cute and seemed to take a liking to me =] the village also had a baby baboon that they were looking after, they had found it injured.....so got to hold, and be ran over by the monkey.
after dinner we had a campfire and our group along with some of the villagers and the drivers ( Son and Andy) our group had a sing song....sunni brought out his guitar and sang us a song it was really really cosy and because the sky was so clear we could see all the stars, i tried to take a pic but the stars didnt show up =[
Weds 6th Feb, didnt sleep too well last night it was absolutly freezing, sunni telling us to be prepared for it being 'slightly cooler' has to have been understatment of the century!!!! guess its all part of the experience and i did enjoy it in a weird way. after breakfast we continued the trekking, was slightly easier than yesterday again some amazing veiws, after a few hours of trekking sunni took us through a rice fields then we had to jump over a fence and follow sunni up this really steep bank with no track or path, sunni was literally cutting through the jungle with his knife, which we thought was a little strange- he later revealled (during our drinking game) that he had infact gotten lost but knew the path was at the top of the hill we had climbed, glad he told us after!
after trekking for 4-5 hours we arrived at elephant camp!!!!
ahhh ran out of time again......will finish of tomorrow! xxx
