hey sorry its taken so long to write a blog been sooo busy, having so much fun!!!
well im well into my travels now, only been away for 12 days but it feels like so much longer. so we arrived in bangkok on the 1st Feb about 6pm staying in New World Lodge, a short walk from Khao San road. Took a wonder up Khao san looking for some food and was shown to a really lovelly, sweet vegetarian restraunt called ethos, where we have returned for many of our meals since. Khao San road is AMAZING, so much going on all hours of the day/night.
2nd Feb: didnt wake up till midday ( i think jetlag set in a little) went to our restraunt (ethos) for brekkie had the nicest fruit plate with a fruit shake.... the fruit over here is the best, so fresh, think im going to struggle to enjoy a fruit salad at home knowing how great it can be. then explored khao san by day... with a little shopping :P. we then headed back to our hotel for our first group meeting and the start of our northern hill tribe trek
our group was really, really nice there was twelve of us,10 girls and two men, all young (though i was the youngest). we had become a lil family as for all of us it was our first group tour in our differant travels, and splitting up to go our seperate ways was sad. our leader sunit (or sunni as we call him) is a legend!!!!
we headed for a meal just past khao san road which was lovelly, then we went for a drink on khao san.... we bought this massive pitcher/tap of beer between us and really bonded as a group.
3rd feb: sunni took us on a walk to local market, which was an experience not sure i liked it being vegetarian and all. it was stalls, and stalls of differant meats from chicken and fish to bugs and even the delicassy of snake, mmmmmm. the smell wasnt great and some of the creatures were still alive which scared me just slightly.
then the majority of the group (me included) got a private boat and were taken on a tour of the city via its waterways, its so pretty and diverse plus the boat ride was fun. we stopped for half an hour at the floating markets where we had lunch. the tour ended by the grand palace and most went to visit that, but me,thea and two other girls(Carolyn and Amy) went and booked our accomodation for our return to bangkok and our overnight train to Phuket. Thea and i are going to visit the Grand Palace and reclinning budda tomorrow. at 4pm we met back at the hotel and made our way for the overnight train journey to Chang mai. the train journey was nothing special as its dark so you cant see out the window though it was fun and an experience the first journey was really fun but with a few more to do .... the nights sleep isnt the best.
4th Feb: arrived in chang mai EARLY morning went to our new hotel ( hotel Serenity) showered and freshened up after the long train ride. we were taken on a guided walk through chang mai by sunni seeing a few of the many temples chang mai has to offer.then the group split half went for a massage but me and 5 others went for a swim at and amazing 5star hotel (owened by the same ppl that own the hotel we were staying in) and just chilled. we then went for dinner and a shop at the chang mai night market.....gorgeous market, more spacious than bangkok with some great shopping....thailand is sooooo cheap, im loving it. anyway ive run out of internet time now ill write again later today. xxx
