So this will be my last postcard from Malaysia as we are heading back to Bangkok tomorrow.
On Sunday we went snorkelling for the whole day which was probably the best snorkelling I have ever done. We swam with some giant turtles and thanks to my flippers I managed to keep up with them and I hovered about a foot above them. At another site we were given bread to feed the fishes and I was absolutely malled by them. At first I attempted to be very brave and not get scared but after a fish bit my finger and tried to take a lump out of my arm, I dropped the bread and fled!! We were meant to see sharks as well but they seemed to be hiding that day which was probably a good thing as my leg was still an open wound.
In the evenings here we mainly eat late and enjoy the ONE bar on Long Beach. We did however venture out to Mirror Beach at midnight on a boat taxi, to check out a newly opened bar. The ride over took about 45 minutes and was very bumpy and didn't settle to well on a belly full of vodka. On the way back we decided to get a boat to Coral bay beach and then take a quick ten minute walk through the jungle to get back. Lou and Gemma were fortunate to be wearing shoes but myself and an Aussie, Robbo, did not. Coral bay lived up to its name and with the tide out I had a painful 100m walk across coral. Later as we walked through the jungle, guided only by the light of a mobile, I suddenly walked across what felt like loads of thorns that were stuck in my foot. The malaysian guide we were with told us to quickly walk and get the thorns out in a few minutes. We did as he said, and when we got to a clearing quickly pulled these painful things out of our feet.....It was at this point he told us that they were in fact termites and that entire time I had had ant soldiers sticking in my feet, gross!!!!!
We head out tomorrow to Bangkok and are taking two flights, one to KL and then onto Bangkok. I'll be sad to leave here but it is definitely turning into more of a holiday than travelling.
Another quick thing to note is that whilst my ipod has restored itself, my charger has been stolen by some pikey english boys, so I won't be able to use it after all!!
