Just a quickie from Queenstown, have been here a while now and really enjoying ourselves!Staying in a cool lodge just 3mins from the centre!
Have spent the last few days up on the slopes of Coronet Peak and The Remarkables or as the locals say The Remarks doing some sking! Fantastic views up there of the snow capped peaks and mountain ranges. Managed to get some backpacker price ski lessons so soon progressed from the flat slopes up to the steeper runs.Katrina and I had loads of fun going up on magic carpet aswell as the chairlift! On our first chairlift attempt Katrina rolled off the lift and landed in a ball tangled in her skis and poles. We were both in hesterics as I shouted to the man "This is our first time on the chairlift!".The bemused man stopped the lift and quickly picked her up...On the second chairlift attempt I almost exited the lift with success but soon landed on my bum and had to be pulled up by the same nice man! Katrina and I are convinced that the hardest part of sking is not coordinating your skis but simply exiting the chairlift with any grace.....I'm sure we will (hopefully) improve with more chairlift runs...
Have visited many of the local bars and seen a snowboarding competiition. We went to World bar where we managed to sample all the teapot cocktails on the menu! A great invention and I swear that drinking cocktails from a teapot does make you more drunk than from a glass......
Will write again soon xxx
