Arrived in Avalon two days ago to stay with family. A lovely village feel but shops, beach and cove all within 10 min walk. Beautiful surroundings and have seen many parrakeets and parrots which always seem to be skwarking and fighting! So far no scary creatures but have been told a few stories especially about sharks that seem to emply that even paddling may not be safe! Well. An interesting start to our adventures. Remembered only after boarding the plane, quite the extent of my extreme fear of flying. This was not helped by Tim the pilot anouncing half way to the runway that the plane had been struck by lightening 3 days earlier and was now malfunctioning. Thank you Tim, really!
