Hello,
Sorry about the long delay since the last update but finding a computer has been near impossible over here!
We are currently sweltering in the Florida sun it has been in the late 90s almost every day which is simply too hot.
Anyway we have been upto a lot since the last update. Since the last blog we visited LA itself which is a total dump. Why anybody would choose to go there is beyond me. Having said that we saw the main sites and took normal tourist pictures. We also visited Santa Monica Beach it is beautiful the pier is pretty cool although very busy.
We have also been down to San Diego which is far nicer. There is plenty to do there the old town section is very interesting and has lots of good restaurants. There was a city tour starting there which was well worth it although we complained that they were unable to sit us on one tram so we got our money back. We tried to see Tenacious D but were unsuccessful which upset us but the area (Gas Town) is a great place to go out.
The best thing about San Diego was Sea World. The shows were very impressive although the heat again got to us. We managed to avoid getting wet most the day but I insisted that we went on one more ride at the end of the day. This ride got us soaking I couldn't help but laugh Jen was less than impressed. We actually had to change clothes it was that bad.
The flight to Miami was uneventful and fiairly quick although it seemed to take forever to get to our hotel. We had treated ourseleves to breakfast at IHOP earlier in the day which was sooooo gooood. Pancakes with everything is the way forward! The difference in heat was noticed straight away. Where we were staying was right on the beach a great location.
We were very lazy most the time in Miami. Although we had a meal at Bubba Gump Shrimp Restaurant. Its a Forrest Gump themed restaurant and was very good.
We drove down to Key West which took 6 hours not the advertised 3 but it was well worth it. The little hotel we stayed in wqas very friendly and had a great pool. That evening we went kayaking in one of the bays with an eco guide. When it got dark we had lamps on our head to look at the sealife. This also involved kayaking through tunnels in the mangroves which was very cool although spooky. I held a thing called a sea cucumber which was horrid and was inked on by another squidgy thing. This trip was a definate highlight in the holiday. Afterwards we went to a country and western bar which had a live band.
We spent the next day walking around the shops until it got too hot. However we did go to a pirate museum which was interesting. We watched the sunset over the ocean whilst listening to the worse Bob Marley cover artist the world has ever seen! We also had a meal which I miss read the menu to and ended up payin $45 for my dish needless to say I was not very popular with Jen!!!!
We bought Key Lime pie and have been sharing it with Ed (Jen's Grandad's Brother). We are now in Bradenton. There's not much to do here so we have been relaxing by the pool and the beach. Ed gave us a tour around the area yeaterday and we had a nice meal by the bay. The area is beautiful but far far far tooooooo hot!!! We are limiting ourselves to afternoons and eveings outside.
We are here until next weekend. Then we see Jenny and Mark but have only one week left once we get there!
Hope you are all well.
Look forward to seeing you all.
Love
Rob and Jen
P.S. Karley we had the seaseme crispy chicken strips they were lovely!
