Hello!
So, the plan of updating every night didn't work- didnt manage last night so this shall be a 2 day update!
Yesterday was only a short day of driving, went from Cache Creek to Kamloops in about an hour and a half- ended up having a look around there, headed to Walmart! We have both decided its not a very spectacular place... Think Walmart was the highlight!
Headed to Salmon Arm from there, via the BC wildlife park but decided against it after seeing the average age of the visitors there was about 5..not really that exciting. Stayed the night with Auntie Mads and stayed in her spare room, along with the indoor hot tub! was unfortunatly covered up though...
Hoping to see some hummingbirds in the morning at breakfast, as we were told they are regular visitors, but they were oviously not as keen to see us.
Hummingbird count so far = 0 (damn it!)
After leaving Salmon Arm in the swealtering heat, we headed for Revelstoke- the future competiton for Whistler aparently! We spoke to some locals there and they told us they are planning on becoming as big as, or bigger than Whistler, so went and checked out the future ski hill- was just a massive building site from all we could see! At least we can now say we've been to another ski resort though! We had lunch in Revelstoke national park, and we were alomost cooking- so sunny and warm...well for us pasty Scots and Germans.(Jenna you would be there in 2hoodies and a jacket)
Drove from there through the amazing scenery, insane cliffs up to the left and massive steep canyons down to the right- stuff that you really can't catch on camera! After driving through a rain storm, we arrived in Alberta(+1hour) at Lake Louise where it was snowing- ended up being able to walk on the lake. Think we scared the nice indian family- who were carefully and slowly treading across the ice- when we ran and jumped both together!
Have arrived now in Banff, settled into our Youth Hostel and had a nice dinner in the village... still being patriotic to Whistler by wearing our hoodies though. Hoping to have a better look around tomorrow and scope out the competition. Off to Calgary tomorrow.
Internet connection is pretty crap, so can't get up any photos at the moment, will try again tomorrow!
Day Summery:
Total Distance Travelled:794 kms
Weather: Summer sun in Revelstoke, Spring rain in the Rockies, and Winter snow in Lake Louise/ Banff. Pretty damn sweet for one day!
Bears Seen: none. (which is pretty poor and sad... thinking about tying a steak to the outside of the car)
