After a night in the Samesun hostel in Banff, we headed for a wander round the village- which was pretty similar to Whis(apart from all the posh cars without rust on them) then headed up to the ski slopes to scope it out. Had to drive back down the highway to the entrance for Sunshine Village, where we met some mountain goats on the road; first real wildlife viewing of the trip! Since the hill was still open to ski on we had to buy visitors passes...was all a bit frustrating as we didnt have our gear to go riding, and everyone else was boarding right past us!
After feeling like right tourists, we headed back down the highway on our way to Calgary. We planned to stay in a new hostel that had just opened; normally it would have been too expensive, but as it had just opened there were reduced rates for May... well we planned on staying there. After driving round (rush hour)Calgary for an hour and asking for countless directions, it turns out the hostel dosn't exist! We found the building...but it was just run down and empty.Obviously the hostel hasnt been opened yet...nice of them to say that on the website!!
Are currently staying in the HI Calgary hostel, which has turned out to be really nice anyway. Not too sure of what the plan is for tomorrow yet- were still trying to decide whether to stay another night in Calgary but so far were not really too keen on the idea!
Summary:
Distance Travelled; 993kms
Wildlife seen; Mountain Goats! Still no bloody bears though...
