Day 1:- Leaving Toronto and heading to Ottawa...en route we stopped at Kingston, which was a nice little town and the sun was shining...there was a pride parade, which was so much fun....June is pride month in Canada and they have literally 100s of parades and events and festivals to celebrate pride...how amazing is that??....then we headed to the 100 Islands Cruise which was fab, literally islands on the Ontario River....and if it has 2 trees or more it can be called an island...bet ya didnt know that, now dont get me wrong its no virgin islands but some of the houses were wonderful...I mena imagine living on your own little island in the middle of nowhere....just a house and a boat?? how bliss....mind you cant imagine the nearest shop being at the end of the road....imagine "Ill just get the boat off the jetty and nip for some milk"....oh god!!! At 1 point we actually crossed the border to new York State...so technically Ive been the USA on this trip too....proper globetrotter me arent I
We got to see some amazing small and big houses and also a castle...yes a castle
Anyways we arrived into Ottawa around 530pm...and yes I was hungry so I asked where I could get some healthy veggie food and was sent to a place called "Pure Kitchen" and it was wonderful...plus I walked away with a FREE extra meal and 2 FREE Juices....Id like to say it was my scouse charm....hmmm haha, the girl who served me was so friendly and aI was very grateful for all my food plus my freebies....mind you everyone I have encountered in Canada thus far has been so friendly and helpful....seriously can I live here?? I then went for a hot tub and sauna at hotel (minus the food.....dont want soggy food) zzzzzzzz
Day 2:- This morning we started with a City Tour and went to See "Royal Cananda Mounty Police" and see the horses and learn all about the "musical ride" and it was really interesting, plus the Queen got a few mentions, I might tweet here "hashtag queen"....we then went aroudn Ottawa and seen War Museum, History Museum, the embassies and then Parliament Hill...and if you look at the photos and are from the UK..look familiar?? Yes its a replica of out Parliament......a gift from us, tell ya what no1 has ever bought me a parliament, whats 1 gotta do round here to get one??? Theres no big ben, wonder what theirs is called??
After the morning tour we had a free day, so I wandered off on my own (were I always seem happiest in my own little world) and explored some more I went to Byward Market and sampled some yummy food, maple tea and just soaked up the atmospehere...it lashed down at one point and seriously between that rain and parliament hill....and images of the queen everywhere (well not everywhere) I felt just like I was back home....rain didnt last long thank god. I tried the Ottawa Special of "Beavertail"....and as much as Id like to say thats what it was its a pastry....but looks like a beavers tail, but dont worry doesnt taste like one (mind you have you ever had 1?)...I then went to see a few memorials and statues across the city....I love how they honour their fallen soldiers and those from the war, its humbling, especially at the war musuem they have the tombstone of the falllen soldier and at 11am a light shines through a small window and lights it up.....and there was a reflection pool by the side, was ctaully really touching. They really do some amazing stuff here.
Lots to see and do in the Capital and the sun was out and it was really warm...walked the legs off myself again and really got into the Candian spirit...even seen a changing of the guards, imagine if they woulda been dressed as beafeaters thought?? I imagine fainting there in that heat.
Ottawa its been fab, so much culture and history and a beautiful place...no wonder you are the capital...can I stay???
