Hey guys, it's about time we know lol! Western Australia has not given us opportunities for civilization and plus we have been busy having a great time. Going back to Asia, it was fantastic, Thailand was great, Malaysia was interesting staying in Penang Island and onto the Cameron Highlands. Kuala Lumpur we visited the Petronas Twin Towers and the Menara Tower looking across the city with the beautiful lights, Malaysia is a mixture of many religions and cultures. In Melaka we stayed in a 300 year old house run by hippies, it was great and then finally onto Singapore having a Singapore Sling in the famous, posh Raffles Hotel where we could throw the peanut shells on the floor. Everything was great but 3 countries in 15 days there was obviously a lot more to see. But hey on the 29th September we made our flight to Perth, WESTERN AUSTRALIA, 5 nights in Perth where we watched the Australian football and the West Coast Eagles won so it was a great atmosphere and we checked out Cottesloe Beach. Starting our Outback Tour to Broome on the 3rd October, our tour guide Cleggy who had a great personality and was fun. We stopped to see the Pinnacles Desert huge limestone pillars one of Australia's most fascinating landscapes. 700km to Kalbarri through the outback where we swam in fresh water pools and trekked to Murchison River Gorge which was beautiful. Stopping at Sharks Bay looking down from the cliffs to see the sharks and then onto the Stromatolites they are 3.5 million years old and Jen almost destroyed some by dropping orange peel. Onto Shell Beach, the whole beach was covered in small white shells and looking out on clear crystal water and miles of beautiful scenary. We spotted our first Australian spidder, the web was like a guitar string and then a venomous land snake. Getting to know the group really well, there were 17 of us altogether and we started to have a great laugh. Travelling 400km to Monkey Mia where we had a good laugh with some Aboriginal locals, it was jokes, Jen was pretty chilled that night lol. In the morning, we saw wild dolphins coming metres away from us. On our road trip entering the TROPICS OF CAPRICORN and 600km onto Coral Bay. Jen went snorkelling with reef tip sharks inches away, Ningaloo Reef is beautiful, an experience Jen will never forget. Night life was good, mostly Tanya checking out the local beers lol. Then onto Exmouth, these early starts are becoming easier. We saw wild kangaroos and spent the day at Turquoise Bay. Jen went snorkelling with the guys along the reef and across the drift, it was an extremely dangerous area and if you didn't head back before the rib you wouldn't have stood a chance. The fish and the coral were amazing and Ralph told Jen there was a shark metres away from her at one point, so after 45 minutes of snorkelling she was straight back in trying to find it. We all chilled on the beach for the afternoon and spent the night in Exmouth. On the 9th October up at 4:00am, set off 800km to Karijini National Park driving through the middle of nowhere, further we head North the hotter it gets, stopping at random road houses and spotting the wildlife and bush fires along the way. Driving across the Numatura Munuttura Road picking up mulga wood for the fire, the aboriginals use this for boomerangs, and then off again on the rusty red tracks to Hammersley Gorge, to go swimming, it was absolutely amazing, swimming in the water looking up to beautiful cliffs, Jen jumping off rocks from about 15ft and checking out an Aussie guy. Trekking the rocks and stepping stones to a plunge pool, this was a great experience. Our first night sleeping in swags, eating dinner round the camp fire just in the middle of nowhere with Ben's punch and nothing else but miles of outback, full moon, wildlife and stars. 5:00am the following morning we trekked challenging walks in our sexy boots to more gorges and waterfalls, climbing down ropes and spider walking to Kermitts Pool. There was a 6ft 7inch guy called Nick who Jen was always jumping off high rocks into the water with, loving it but a bit of a death wish at times. Cleggy threw Tanya into the water twice at Kermitts Pool but no chance of getting him back lol. Trekking back to the truck up steep rocks and loose pieces beneath our feet, Jen loved it and Tanya struggled a bit. There's so much more to say this National Park really was amazing and we enjoyed every minute of it. The following day swimming and climbing to get to Dales Gorge, a circular pool with warm waterfalls, temperatures reaching 25 degrees. This is a real adventure and Tanya fell into the pool with all her clothes on so Cleggy gave her a Guardian Angel which was Nick. Campsite again, cockroches in the toilet and drinking under the stars, but we loved it. Leaving Karijini and onto 80 Mile Beach with an extremely challenging walk to our last gorge on the way, passing the Fortesque Falls seeing bats, which make a lot of noise and Jen and Ben singing Disney tunes keeping everyone amused and then she was thrown in the water lol. Driving through Port Hedland arriving at 80 Mile Beach, a real fantastic beach but unable to swim because of the jellyfish and sharks. Up a sunrise to play frisby on the beach, unbelivable beach to see in daylight it was great fun and then heading off to Broome 400km (altogether 4000km) which was unfortunately our last stop with our fantastic tour guide Cleggy having our last reflect back on our trip in fits of laughter. Night out on the drink near Cable Beach in Broome, having leathal cocktails by the sunset and onto Divers, we had a great night. Jen getting away with bottle shop drinks in their glasses and testing out the Aussies, surprise surprise and being carried home by Nick, Ian and Owen...... a little tooooo much drink, whilst Tanya being stung by a jellyfish and asking Cleggy to pee on her (off Friends) which was definately an experince she will never forget lol!!! Spending the hangover sunbathing on Cable Beach (rated best of 3 in the world) and chilling by the pool in hammocks finding out that the $240.00 tip to Cleggy was lost in his drunken state, can you believe it!
Friday 13th said goodbye to some of the group and Cleggy, it was sad to say goodbye and starting our 3000km to Darwin a week of travelling through the Kimberley Region along Gibb River Road with more fascinating landscapes and camping with no toilets and showers and stories but you will hear them soon. Obviously we are now in Darwin but will leave you here for the moment because we want some sun, fun and ALCOHOL!!!! with the great people we've met but will be back soon. We are loving the back packing life and seriously can't explain, it's fantastic.
