Sydney=Piss up!
The first few days involved an emotional reunion with Maria and Bec and of course our on the spot photographers, David and Mike. We only had a little time so it was go go go and we managed...The Harbour Bridge Climb (its so much fun and huge!) A meal in the Summit Restaurant (it spins) and cocktails in the Shag-ri-la...thankyou so much Rosemary and Joe! We even fitted in days at Bondi and Manlay beach as well as a few nights out...a highlight will always be Maria punching David...go team girls! The low point was the third lost camera, where we accused everyone in very loud voices of stealing it, putting signs up around the hostel demanding its return, only to have the cab company call us saying we left it in the back drunk...oh dear! And of course we met up with our around the wrold friends again and ex London/new Sydney chick Tanya, complete with her blistered legs and rose loving ways, which lead to laying on the floor outside clubs, making David speak to her friends at home, refusing to get in cabs and demanding hash browns. She also became friend number 3...enough said Dave.
Sadly Maria and Mike had to go, but along came Lucie and Karen, a tearful reunion, maybe becasue Denise also managed to spot Russel Crowe at the airport as well! Pace changed and shopping (yes we found more malls with wicked food courts), beaches and drinking became the routine. Jam dougnut shots and 'goon' (box of wine for a fiver has to be seen as beautiful in anyones eyes!
Christmas eve was spent at the World Bar in Kings Cross. Not only does this place have cocktails in teapots, it also served up mince pies and sweets....heaven! We met up with everyone there including Chris, Stu and Sean, and Kat and Mark (our friends from Fiji). Was a great night, although they did only play Mariah All I Want for Christmas once despite us continuously asking! Dave demanded a moment with us and there were tears, just not ours. We rocked on until early hours when people started to dissapear to find Santa, so Jen thought she'd spice things up a little with a game of leap frog. The bouncer wasn't feeling it (I don't think he liked Denise's jump) and we were asked to leave. So off we went back to Bondi, where we opened our hostel door to find a roomie so drunk she had rolled out of bed with her pants down, beautiful! We climbed onto our top bunk (yes we shared a top bunk for three days due to a 'bookin' error) and bonded even more...we became very familiar with each others feet!
Christmas day we pushed hangovers aside and went to Bondi baby yeah! Met all the xmas eve crew including Ben, Laura and Liz (our NZ friends) and the boys mate Craig. We cured the hangovers with TimTams, crisps and biscuits and the traditional christmas dinner of Hungry Jacks aka Burger King...yum yum yum! We boogie boarded as well, and after a few near drownings, the flash of bums and boobs we finally got the technique! Woo! Went back to the hostel in the evening and after emotional chats with home, got back on the goon, ate mince pies and chilled. In the words of the great Tiny Tim, Merry Christmas one and all!
The 27th...Ok ok, its tradition to celebrate boxing day, and we did, on Bondi with Lucie, Becky, George, Corin and Tanya, complete with Sushi and Mc Cafe...glorious (great day girlies, thankyou!)...but the night of the 27th holds special places in our hearts! Stu/Chef, slipped into conversation he was a chef...Craig mentioned he was staying in an apartment on Darling Harbour...the cogs started turing and before they new it a christmas dinner party was arranged! The food was amazing, seriously the b**** did well! Four servings later (we did exceed ourselves) and choc cake, the drinking games began. Despite us demanding Lucie (the older cousin) take care of us, she failed, we ended up with pants around our head and passing out on the floor. Jenna wasn't comfy so moved herself into craigs bed, later joined by Denise when Dave dared to move!...sorry Craig you didn't want your bed did you?! To be fair, we did pretty well with the horse and bridge card game (Denise playing Carol does not exempt her from drinking!)! The following morning...it wasn't just the apartment that was a mess but all of us who had passed out somewhere were not feeling too great! Wicked night though...cheers Stu and Craig!
New Years...trying to coordinate 20 people meeting is not easy, esp when your us and running an hour late, but thanks again lads, we all managed to push in with you nicely (at the front of the mile long que)! In the park by 12 so had another 12 to kill...what else to do but drink?! Our smuggling skills were off key...not many people can pass off vodka as Ribena in cartons, but we managed! The grape catching game also proved a favorite, as well as seeing how many people we could squeeze in a port-a-loo....the result was 3!! Go on!!!! The fireworks were absolutely amazing, the best we have ever seen. Brought tears to eyes (well, Jennas, maybe due to the wine as well?!) Was such a special night with friends and family and great people we have met along the way. Cheers guys we will remember it forever!! We woke up News Years morning in the familar position of two in a single bed, to discover George and Corin in the other bed! We continued the around the world theme of feeding ourselves all day!! Lets start as we mean to go on!
Another special day that needs mentioning is Lucie Lous 25 Birthday. After breakfast on Circular Quay, she decided to be even posher and have a meal at Darling Harbour. We ate Kangaroo...Skippy sure does taste good! Finished off the night in Cargos on the harbour, complete with Moet and cocktails! They didn't mix well and we found ourselves uncontrollably dancing, think the highlight was the areobics moves! George and Corins leap frog was particulary spectacular (why didn't they get asked to leave?!) Cant go without mentioning Skippy...he got up to all sorts (see pics!) By the end, it was declared a successful night with Denise getting a new bag (complete with change) and Jenna getting new flip flops...cheers Lucie and Karen, you know you love us!
It wasn't all drunk, don't worry ma's and pa's. Courtesy of Lucie's travel agency, we went on the Blue Mountians tour which was great! Saw our first Kangaroos (my god they have the weirdest arms and the biggest balls!...we're not pervs, its just freaky!) as well as the Three Sisters Rocks and walked down 1000 steps...Jen wanted to miss a few so fell down some...still, flip flops are the way forward!
Another Ozzy highlight that cant be forgotten is Max Brenners choc shop. This place pees over Cadburys World! It was heaven in a shop. George and Corin, how can we ever thank you for discovering it and taking us?! ... Choc soufle, melted choc, strwberries & ice cream, served with cookie milkshake...wow!
Embraced ozzy culture even more with a visit to the Imax cinema and the best chicken burger on Darling Harbour!
Sydney was soooo fantastic and it really was who we were with that made it special. Had one of the best Christmas' and New Years ever, so thankyou so much to you all!
