Hi!
Back from our two day one night mountain trek. It was amazing! We started off at the market where our leader picked up the food we would need. It's neat to see the different markets and see how different they are from the typical grocery store in Canada. Questionnable food storage but given that the fish are still breathing the seafood must be fresh. Then we made way out of the city and into the mountains where we went on an elephant ride. Pretty cool! After this the work began...A three hour walk/climb uphill. Hard work but well worth it. We stayed with the Lahu tribe (a mountain tribe known for there hunting and medicinals). At the village they live off the land and the animals they farm. There are 150 people and 250 chickens wandering. The roosters worked like clockwork starting at 5am. We took off down the mountain to which I fell twice trying to descend...then went to a waterfall, some rafting and finally a short bamboo raft. Between the tour and the people we met we had a great time. Hope all is well!
