Just got back from going up to see the Virgin Mary looking out over Santiago...there is a funicular that goes up to the top where there is a fantastic view of Santiago. Unfortunately the view is masked by the unbelievable smog cloud that hangs over the city- you can´t even see the Andes which surround it and you realise why there are so many restrictions on kids playing sport etc- very depressing... Mary wasn´t as impressive as Christ the Redeemer in Rio I´m...

So we`re back in Santiago- here for two days until we fly to La Paz, Bolivia on Wednesday... The last couple of days at the Estancia was brilliant... we went out on Friday afternoon for a long ride on the Peruvian horses again..the sun came out for us and the scenery was beautiful as we went around the ranch enjoying the stunning views. We had a good few long gallops and everyone was really impressed with Charles´ riding and how it had come on. We knew the last...

Yesterday we arose after a very poor night´s sleep- it was -7 degrees and we had a hole in our roof! However the snow had stopped and the sun come out so we ventured out on horseback for a lovely ride through the snow. We were riding lovely Peruvian horses who have an extra gait called the Passo- it's like a canter but incredibly smooth. In fact all the gaits are so smooth it's a pleasure to ride. Ok...Why do bad things happen to good people?! We woke up this morning to the ground covered in a layer of snow and it´s been coming thick and fast all day....although it´s very beautiful it means no riding as the gauchos won´t even leave the kitchen when it´s miserable out...!
