Looking at my blog and how nice it is to have a written record I thought, even though i'm no longer in Asia it would be nice to continue writing, firstly so as not to forget the fun happenings of the remainder of my gap year and secondly for anyone wanting to see where I am and what I'm up to :).
I arrived back from the land of rice safe and sound and gorged on as many jacket potatoes as I could. I only had a week at home to catch up with people which flew by. I spent a few days with Dave mainly helping him with house renovations and one day heading to a Jaguar scrapyard where I donned his clothes and got stuck in helping to remove a windscreen. You learn something new every day!! I also saw my stepfamily and some much loved Leeds friends.
This last week I went to Barcelona con la familia- it was lovely to spend time with them. It's so rare for us all to be together and we made the most of it. Barcelona is an amazing city and has definitely become a favourite of mine. From amazing architecture to crowded street markets to hidden parks.... it's got everything. For anyone thats been, my highlights have to be Park Guell and Sagrada Familia. We stayed in a self catering apartment a street away from La Rambla and sightsaw ( what is the past tense?!?!) from morning til night finishing the days with paella and tapas.
I was sad to see the family leave- due to confusion about whether I would be seeing my original aupair family and then in the end them not being able to make it I had an extra day and night to myself in a hostel. I'm used to hostels and it was all fine- I went sightseeing on my own and bumped into another lone traveller so we spent the day together.
That evening I flew to Orense to start aupairing all over again! Its so good to be back- the kids are great and becoming more and more confident speaking English. We went straight to the beach and spent the weekend crab fishing and bodyboarding and eating lots of calamars! Now I'm back in the city teaching English privately like last time, hanging out with aupairs in cafes and playing with the kids in the afternoons! Today is egg painting day! I love spending half of my days acting like a child!!
