Like a religion, or maybe a personal mecca, I was drawn back to Barranquilla again this year for the annual Carnaval. I have no idea why. Perhaps it has something to do with the photos of Miss Colombia you see below. Whatever it is that made me come back here for the third time, that same spark was in the air and the celebration I named "Boobs and Booze" back in 2009 is still the most accurate way to describe it.

For this Carnaval, no less than four guests from back in Pennsylvania came down to visit. 2010 and 2011 have been banner years for visitors and for Mike, Kurt, Doug and Gail, I think Colombia did not disappoint. I could write on and on about Carnaval but I will let the photos speak a thousand words instead. Although, one word seems to summarize everything. Wow.

Author's note: at time of writing, Miss Colombia has not accepted my friend request on Facebook. I will pretend to believe that she is just too busy at the moment to accept my unwavering friendship.
