Now that my mental capabilities have been restored, post jet lag, I am now officially a New Yorker! I ride the subway like I've done nothing else the rest of my life, no hesitation at intersections, almost a precognitive sense of direction! Who needs a map with New York street grid system? If you can count from 1 to 100 you're all set! I learnt to walk like a New Yorker too. Here strolling is a criminal offense, only a purposeful stride will do. Like a military march with moving obstacles :) I also learnt how to cross the street, New York style! Ignore the strange lights flashing red and green, they are decorative. Walk about 3/4 of the way across ( how else are drivers gonna know you wan to cross? Duh!) and then keep walking when physically possible, don't worry about car grazing. Your purpose is not to get to the other side in one piece, your purpose is to clear the way ASAP :) This city is absolutely energizing and invigorating! And I guess walking like a Duracell bunny all day would do that to you :) it's a city of purpose and I love its propelling energy. More photos of the day highlights in the album section :)
