Hi everybody!
I'm currently sitting in my hostel in Melbourne and it's 0604 Monday morning. I'm flying to Christchurch (NZ) at 0840 this morning and all packed and ready.
Since my last blog, I did a bit of sightseeing around Sydney. I went to the usual spots such as the Opera house and Harbour bridge. I also went up the sky tower and had dinner there for $15! It was a spectacular view of the city at night. Following only three nights there, I headed to Melbourne. It was a three-day trip through a few small towns and snowy mountains. That's correct - there's snow in Australia! It was abosolutely freezing, but I had a good time. We saw lots of wildlife on the journey and I met some cool people on the trip.
Arriving in Melbourne Friday afternoon, I didn't do much apart from go out that evening with a few people from my tour. The next day however, I decided to go to an AFL (Aussie rules Football) game at the MCG. Yep - the world famous MCG. It was incredible to be there. To watch a game made it that much better. It's a lot of fun to watch and I only just started understanding the game! Spent on $20 there and met a local whom I chatted with during the game. Did some more sight-seeing of the city later before heading back for an early night. I did have an early morning Neighbours tour booked for the next day after all!
Woke up early Sunday and hopped straight on the cheesiest bus you'll have ever seen in your life. Once all passengers had been picked up, they started playing the neighbours theme song. I thought to myself, ''My God, why on Earth am I doing this?! I don't even watch the show!'' Anyway, I got past it and they then started playing classic tunes from old cast members. It was awful but amusingly cheesy. Once we got the fictional town of Erinsborough (Ramsay street), we discovered that it wans't actually called 'Ramsay Street'. It was also much smaller in real-life and the real residents don't get along. Just like the show then, eh? ;) I took a few snaps and then we went off to the high-school, which is actually a school to teach foreigners English. I kid you not! Finally, we went to meet Connor - an old cast member from the show whom I did recognise from when I watched it some years ago. Again, everyone took some snaps before heading back.
I met a guy called Darren on the bus and we ended up going into the city to watch Shrek 3. After my brief tour of the city, we headed back and watched Armageddon on TV at the hostel as it was being shown. Then dinner, then a few drinks and then back to the hostel! Yes, I have summarised my evening, but I gotta be quick. I woke up extra early this morning as I'm literally about to leave my hostel to catch the bus to Melbourne Airport. I'm heading to Christchurch in a few hours. I'll be posting photos of my Oz escapades soon.
Until next time, may the Force be with you.
