Workin' Our Way Around The World
Hello to my wondeful family and much missed friends!!
Imagine your best beach image , azure aquamarine sea , white sands, mountaneous greenery with rock boulders, tranquil peace with only the sound of crashing waves .... have you got it?
Now you are where we are complete paradise - Turtle island Koh Toa. This is the island north of samui and is divers haven. We are staying at Buddha view diving resort , led by instructers from all over the world and the most friendly of thai population that we have met. Its like a family here a real community with free movies in a bar every night where you lay on pillows and everyone bumming around its really sweet and we feel very much at home. You can see why some people stay here longer than expected!!. There is even BBQ every night on the beachfront which serve some amazing seafood of your choice . Its one of the best places we have been to and the most amazing view and beach that i have ever seen. Completly different to the surrounding island samui its less publically developed and the tourism buildings have not taken over which is so good to see. The beach is outlined with coconut palms and bamboo built bars overlooking on verandas out to the spectacular view.
Anyway i wont go on lets get back to reality now........
Jess loves her diving classes and began two days ago for a four day open water PADI course which at the end certifies her as a qulaified diver of up to 18 metres , she attends "school" every morning beginning at 9.00 with her new buddys , then dives in the afternoon , i will let her fill you in on all this techincal stuff as its over my head! Its something i need to overcome my fear of the open water but its amazing to see Jess do something that she is really interesting and will be a huge achievement on an individual basis for her.
Meanwhile Im left to wander the beaches , reading a Paulo Coelho novel and enjoying the sun , life is so damn hard isnt it??? Although i do miss general working life and still think of you all working so hard at Cheltenham General -keep up your good work! Miss you all and hope i dont forget what nursing is ?? No never thats what makes me ha ha!! Im even thinking of spending a pm in their nursing unit here would be interesting to see what thai nursing is all about and maybe learn some new tricks??!!
Yesterday Jess came home with a disaster on her head-literally the chlorine in the teaching pool had turned her hair green -oops so we headed straight for the tomato ketchup and other magic ingredients -wait for the pictures and finally its gone although i still see a slight tinge-hee hee she is now known on the resort as the "sea monster".
Yesterday i had my classes of Thia cookery. I was picked up on the back of a scooter( i was holding on for dear like , ive never been on a bike before) and drove to the local market and butchers by my teacher 'Aey'- she is one of the instructers wife. The locals loved me and Aey translated that they thought i was beautiful and thai like not the usual european type ha ha i laughed and was slightly embarrassed. The lessons took place within her home and i was very welcomed into it she put the BBC world news on and told me to lay up on her sofa while she prepared things , it was just the two of us and her hospitality/generocity outshone anything else, i was made to feel very much welcome and that was really nice. We cooked three dishes , TOM KA GAI ( COCONUT CHICKEN SOUP) , GHANG KEWAN GAI ( THAI GREEN CURRY ) And PAAD THAI( PRAWN RICE NOODLES). The food was delicious and i learnt many new skills so put your orders in now for our thai evenings. After she bagged my food up so i could take it home for Jess - to which she was very impressed!!. Its an experience i wont forget and personal in comparison to being in a group , this was traditional in her home and i think that was kind.
The beaches are great and today i found myself on a secluded beach with huge boulders in the sea which i sat on and had the whole thing to myself , its amazing!!.Time is going so quick though and in 14 days we will be in OZ -different and expensive in comparison to here, next on wed we head to Koh Phangan for the full moon party on the 7th so everyone look at the moon and you will see us dancing under it , as emma said its a nice feeling to know that we all still share the same moon and sun so where ever we are were seeing the same thing and Daddy yes i do think of you sat there!! and thanks for the torches -they have been a life saviour at night when its dark and with the rain, our macs have not left our side out of the all silly items which Jess thought was unneeded i have needed and she has been thankful, .
Not a minute goes by without us thinking of you all- anita we saw your lookey likey last night and it made us sad we miss ya so much!! Sometimes i wish you were all here to share the moment but it wont be long and we will; be back for our big reunion.
Keep well , be happy and stay in touch as its good to feel connected
All our love Sammy and Jess xx xx xx
